THE REVENGE OF LOST PLANTS Installation by SYLVIE PROIDL 135x145x145cm, Mixed Media 2015 Die bildende Künstlerin Sylvie Proidl (www.sylvie-proidl.com ) beschäftigt sich in ihrem Werk mit dem Thema der bedrohten Lebensräume. Bei der Installation THE REVENGE OF LOST PLANTS benützt sie die Metapher eines Herbariums, um mit humorvollem Augenzwinkern, die Rache der zu Tode gepressten Pflanzen zu inszenieren. Die Verwandlung der getrockneten Fasern in ausufernde Plastikfolien vollzieht sich vor den Augen der Besucher und die leuchtenden Farben verstecken die lateinischen Namen der ausgestorbenen Pflanzen auf schwerem Büttenpapier. For the installation THE REVENGE OF LOST PLANTS she uses a herbarium as a metaphor in order to stage, with a humorous touch, the revenge of plants that have been pressed to death. The transformation of the dried fibers into proliferating plastic foil unfolds in front of the visitor’s eye, and the bright colors overlay the Latin names of the extinct plants with thick hand-made paper.
