Dieser Guide wird Sie uner-müdlich und sicher durch die-sen und mit jeder neuen Aus-gabe durch die kommenden Monate führen. Viele kennen uns bereits, viele werden uns noch kennen lernen und noch mehr kennen uns von wilden Nächten an den Wochen-enden. Da wir Vielfältigkeit leben, trinken, essen und hören, gehen wir hier etwas genauer auf unser Angebot ein und möchten Ihnen auch Spezialitäten näherbringen, die Ihnen bisher vielleicht verborgen geblieben sind. Der RENÉE-Guide gibt einen Überblick über das Musik-programm, Empfehlungen für Drinks, Weine, Champagner und unser Essensangebot, Interviews mit oder Porträts

von auftretenden Künstler*in-nen und vieles mehr.

Das RENÉE soll ein Ort sein, an dem sich Menschen wohl-fühlen, an dem sie sich auf Augenhöhe begegnen und bei einem guten Glas Wein oder einem Renée Tea Club miteinander ins Gespräch kommen.

Ein Ort, an dem eine leben-dige, innovative Barkultur auf ein sorgfältig kuratiertes Musikprogramm trifft, an dem Sie die Konzerte roh und direkt erleben können, mit den Gitarrenverstärkern di-rekt im Gesicht. Oft lässt sich aufgrund des Equipments darauf schliessen, ob heute Jazz oder Punk gespielt wird. Wir wollen kulturelle und kulinarische Qualität miteinander verschmelzen lassen und einem vielfältigen und breiten Publikum zu-gänglich machen.

Gemeinsam mit euch wollen wir den Rausch, die Ekstase feiern!

Die Bar RENÉE wurde 2015 von einer kleinen Gruppe von Freunden unter dem Dach der B Train AG gegründet – der Zug, der Manhattan und Brooklyn verbindet. Wir mögen Brooklyns und Man-hattans.

Im Dezember haben wir (wie jeden Monat) einige Kon-zert-Perlen für Sie parat: Lola Jean aka Death Hags aus LA lässt britischen Electropop auf Neue Deutsche Welle treffen. Catch as Catch can haben nicht viel mit Kim Wilde zu tun, sondern spielen besten 60er Garage Punk. Und The Loveboat Orchestra erinnern nicht nur an die legendäre Basler Band Dexter Doom and The Loveboat Orchestra, sondern wurden auch von dessen Bandleader Baumi Thomas Baumgartner gegründet.

Vielleicht die kleine, wirre, experimentelle Auskopplung der grossen Big Band.

Der Samichlaus ist zu lang-sam. Am 6. Dezember findet die 10. Ausgabe von FAST statt: Niko Seibold, Jean-Lou Treboux, James Krüttli und Florian Haas-Schneider zei-gen, dass man mit Jazz auch eine Freitagnacht vertanzen kann.

Wir freuen uns auf eine be-rauschende Vorweihnachts-zeit mit Euch!

Freitagnacht. Endlich Wochenende. Schnell raus und schnell abtau-chen in die Nacht. Zuerst füllen sich die Restaurants und Bars, dann die Clubs. Den Alltag noch im Rücken, den Stress noch mit auf die Strasse, zum Essen, in die Bar, in den Club ge-tragen, jetzt muss es schnell gehen. Schnell abschalten, schnell die Sorgen der Woche vergessen, schnell einen Drink, schnell die Betäubung und schnell schnelle wummernde Bässe. Die Freitagnacht ist elektrifiziert, die Stadt lebt und bebt. Wir wollen das Tempo, das Beben, das Fiebern der Freitagnacht zelebrieren. Dies tun wir mit schnellem Jazz, bis spät in die Nacht.

FAST heisst die Reihe, die einmal im Monat und im Dezem-ber zum 10. Mal stattfindet. Die Bands werden kuratiert von Jonas Prina und Florian Haas, die abwechselnd mit hiesigen Jazzgrössen die FAST-Bands immer wieder neu zusam-mensetzen. Begleitet wird FAST jeweils von DJs, die passend zum schnellen Jazz auflegen, und die regelmässig in unserem Haus spielen.

Composer and multi-instru-mentalist Lola Jean (DTCV) brings a meticulous, mini-malist ear and eye to her art working under the moniker Death Hags. It’s this attention to detail that makes her music envelo-ping without being overwhel-ming as the warm electronics and her ethereal vocals hold sway. Death Hags in the form of a music video for single Earthbound. The buoyant, bubbling cosmic energy exudes naturally from Jean as the track whirrs along delightfully.

About 5 years ago I began writing a cycle of songs that dif-fered from my previous writings.I don't know where they came from, I can't define an inciting incident, thought or catalyst. It was to become the chronic of two lovers who fell in love, out of love, back into love - eventually facing their end – together.It also became the chronic of a distinct geographical and at the same time metaphysical place.Around the same time my friend and longtime collaborator Alain Croubalian was given a piano - an instrument he could not play.As always I sent him my most recent writings, amongst them two or three of the songs here mentioned.I didn't think much about it, and a few months later I had forgotten all about the songs.Sometime in winter Alain sent me two songs - Jupiter Is

Rising and The Plains.The songs were of an other-worldly beauty, fragmented and utterly haunting.The piano playing was so fragile that the songs almost fell apart upon touch - like butterfly wings.And above all Alain had found a singing voice within him, that was completely void of artifice or effect - and at the same time he seemed to be channeling the principal characters of the cycle - male and female.Now many moons have passed, yet recently Alain said with a certain amount of urgency: If we don't record these songs now I know i will lose them.It became clear that these songs where ephemeral and so here and now we offer up and give up these songs of love, of solitude of pain and beauty unto the world.
