    Dear Friends,

A lot has changed for me in 2014, even though it is only February! In early Decem

ber, I was informed by Zimbabwean immigration that my visa was non-renewable.

will no longer be able to work or stay in Zimbabwe long-term unless rules for

temporary residency change at some point in the future. I had already been preparin

for this news since there were so many problems in obtaining my visa the previousyear, but it was still a big shock to know that I really did have to leave my ministry,

my Zimbabwean family including Abigail and Grace, and my home of so many

    years.

After some time in prayer, I decided to move to Cape Town, South Africa for 3

months. This will give me time to discern my next steps and also allow me to easil

return to Zimbabwe in April to visit Grace and Abigail. I will be able to check in o

the HOPE projects at that time. They are continuing as usual while I am away unde

the direction of the Fairfield administrators.

I quickly packed, sold or gave away my possessions and spent the remaining timewith my daughters and close friends. I was grateful to walk Abigail and Grace to

    their first day of preschoo

    at Hartzell Primary.

It was also a blessing to

    have two surprise parties

    my final week in Zim-

    babwe. The first party w

    thrown by the church I

attend. I thought I was jushowing up to a normal

    evening Bible Study, but

    walked out into my friend

    backyard to find the whol

    church there! We had a

    great time playing Maste

    Chef where each team h

to make two kinds of pizza and there were three judges to try each kind. Of course

you had an automatic advantage if you were on my team!

My friend Melissa came all the way

from Texas for my last few days in

Zimbabwe. She was just in time for

the second surprise party with all the

    Fairfield staff. They had contributed

their own money to buy the party

snacks and decorations. It was a

truly special day as each member of

the staff told a story or memory that

we had shared together. We sang

    songs, remembered both the bless-

ings and the hard times over the last

decade and tried not to cry!

More quickly than I had hoped, it

was the last day I was allowed to stay in Zimbabwe. We had to leave before 4am to get to the airport in

time, but still Cecillia and Angela, two of the Fairfield staff, were at my door to say a final prayer. Isaiah

52:12 states, you will not leave in haste or go in flight; for the LORD will go before you, the God ofIsrael will be your rear guard. God called me to Zimbabwe and I was not going to leave in haste, but in

a way that was honoring to Him. As a witness to everything He has done over the last ten years, for all

the ways He has protected my family on both sides of the ocean and guided us through difficult trials, my

friends and I walked out of Fairfield Childrens Home that morning singing Rumbidzai Jehova, Mwari

Makanakameaning, we praise You Lord, for You are good.

I have been in Cape Town for a few weeks now, enjoying the sound of the ocean and the beauty of the

mountains. It is not home...yet. But I am praying and searching to see if this is the place God wants me

to be for the next part of the journey or if I should return to the United States.

I would very much appreciate your prayers for wisdom and discernment during the next two months. Inthe meantime, the HOPE program is running as usual and I plan to return to check on everything in April.

Please, especially if you are currently sponsoring a HOPE child, continue with your donations so

that we do not have to close down the education or nutrition programs. Everything will continue to

function as it was when I was there full-time and there is a strict set of checks and balances to ensure all

funding goes exactly where it was intended. Thank you for a decade of support, prayers and love.

God is worth it. Lets keep going!
