Unsere Schule, die Kurt Tucholsky Gesamtschule, hat 90 Lehrer und ca. 1100 Schüler. Die Schule wurde im Jahre 1994 erbaut.

Unsere Schule ist groß. Unsere Schulhof hat kein Tor. Die Kurt

Tucholsky Gesamtschule ist in Krefeld, Krefeld ist in der Nähe von Düsseldorf. Düsseldorf ist in Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW). Nordrhein-Westfalen ist im Nord-Westen von Deutschland.

Krefeld hat ca. 240.000 Einwohner.

The Kurt Tucholsky Comprehensive has approximately 90 teachers and 1,100 pupils. The school was built in 1994. The school doesn’t have any gates, it is open grounds.

The Kurt Tucholsky Comprehensive is in Krefeld. Krefeld is near Düsseldorf. Krefeld is in the Bundesland North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein Westfalen)

Krefeld has a population of 240,000 people.

• Die Streitschlichter werden im 8. Jahrgang von Frau Dülfer ausgebildet und zu zweit werden sie Fünft- oder Sechstklässlern zugeteilt. Wenn Streit zwischen Schülern entsteht, werden die Streitschlichter eingesetzt. Die Streitschlichter dürfen nichts weitersagen.

Counselling ServiceCounselling Service

The Counselling Service is available to pupils from 8th year onwards.

There are 2 people assigned to every class. When there is an argument between pupils, the Counselling Service must settle the dispute.

The Counselling Service must be discreet and all matters are dealt with in confidence.

Die Solarhalle der Kurt-Tucholsky Gesamtschule ist sehr groß.

Die Solarhalle hat verschiedene tropische Pflanzen z. B. einen Bananenbaum.

In der Solarhalle sind Wasserhähne an der Decke angebracht.

Die Wasserhähne an der Decke spritzen Wasser auf die Pflanzen, wenn sie Wasser brauchen.

Die Pflanzen brauchen auch Sonnenschein, damit sie wachsen.

Darum ist die Decke der Solarhalle durchsichtig.

Im Sommer hat man in der Solarhalle tropische Wetterbedingungen.

In der Pause dürfen sich Schüler in der Solarhalle aufhalten.

In der Solarhalle gibt es eine Disco (Teestube) und einen Freizeitraum, wo man Spiele spielen kann, z. B. Schach oder andere Brettspiele, dort kann man auch Bälle ausleihen z. B. Fußbälle, Basketbälle und andere Bälle.

There are different tropical plants e.g. banana trees.

There are water sprinklers on the roof of the hall.

If the plants need water, the water sprinklers on the ceiling will spray water automatically over the plants. The ceiling is made of glass because the plants need sunshine, so in summer, there is a tropical climate.

In the solar hall there is also a free time room. You can listen to music, play chess or other board games. Footballs and basketballs can also be lent out to pupils. The solar hall of Kurt Tucholsky Comprehensive school is very big.

StolpersteineStolpersteine

Der Künstler Günter Deming lebt in Köln-Kamm. Eines Tages im Atelier hatte er eine Idee. An Opfer der NS (National Sozialisten) zu gedenken in dem er Stolpersteine legt.

Stolpersteine sind 10x10 cm große Messingplatten. Sie kommen glatt in den Boden vor Häusern der NS Opfer. Man soll gedanklich stolpern. Man soll erinnert werden, dass in den Häusern während der Naziherrschaft Juden, Homosexuelle oder politisch Andersdenkende dort gewohnt haben. Auf den Stolpersteinen sind Namen, Geburtsdaten und Todesdaten verzeichnet.

Das Projekt „Stolpersteine“ soll ein individuelles, öffentliches Gedenken an alle Opfer des National-Sozialismus fördern.

In der Projektwoche hat sich eine Schülergruppe mit dem National-Sozialismus beschäftigt. Sie kam auf die Idee Stolpersteine zu setzen. Das wurde vom Stadtrat abgelehnt. Danach fingen die Schüler an, Unterschriften zu sammeln.

The artist Günter Deming from Cologne- Kamm was the inventor of ``Stolpersteine´´. One day in his studio, he had an idea about how to remember the victims of the Nazis - the so called Stolpersteine.

Stolpersteine are 10x10cm large brass blocks. They are placed into the pavement outside the houses of victims of the Nazi period.

The exact translation of the word ´´Stolperstein`` is „stumbling block“. The concept behind Stolpersteine is that when passing by a house that has a Stolperstein outside, you ´´stumble`` and stop for a moment to remember that Jews, homosexuals or political outcasts were known to have lived there. The name, date of birth and date of death are inscribed on the Stolperstein.

The Stolperstein project should be a moment of remembrance in public for victims of the Nazi period.

During project week a group covered the topic of the Nazis. They had the idea of using Stolpersteine in Krefeld.

The idea was rejected by the city council, so the school decided to start gathering signatures to form a petition

Design der SchuleDesign der Schule

Die Architektur der Kurt- Tucholsky Gesamtschule ist eher außergewöhnlich. Es gibt drei Gebäude. Sie heißen Hauptgebäude, alter Turm und neuer Turm. Das Hauptgebäude hat zwei Etagen und die Türme sind etwas höher.

Die Schule hat große Fenster, damit das Sonnenlicht einfallen kann. In den Türmen gibt es jeweils eine Lehrertreppe, die von den Schülern nicht benutzt werden darf (Ausnahme bei Feueralarm). Die Schüler haben eine eigene Treppe.

The design of Kurt-Tucholsky Gesamtschule is unusual. We have three towers; the main building, the old tower and the new tower. The main building has two floors and the towers have three floors.

The school has big windows so that the sunlight gets into the classrooms. There are flights of stairs only for use of teachers in the towers. Pupils are not allowed to use these stairs except in case of fire. Pupils have their own set of stairs.

In unserer Schule gibt es ,,E´´ und ,,G´´ Kurse. Wenn ein Schüler stark im Fach Englisch oder Mathe ist, wird er in den (Erweiterungs-Kurs) ,,E´´ Kurs versetzt, wenn er jedoch schwach darin ist, kommt er in den (Grundkurs) ,,G`` Kurs.

In Deutschland gibt es nicht so viele schriftliche Prüfungen wie in Schulen in England.

Wir dürfen uns auf unserer Schule kleiden wie wir es möchten. Wir haben keine Kleiderordnung.

At our school, there is the “E” and “G” courses. If a pupil is particularly good in English or Maths, they will do the “E” Kurs (Erweiterungskurs/ Advanced Course). However if a pupil is weak in a specific subject, they will then do the “G” Kurs (Grundkurs/ Foundation Course).

We do not have as many written exams as schools in England, instead we write 6 class tests „Klassenarbeiten“ per school year.

We are allowed to wear what we want in school, there aren’t any set rules about uniform.

Antwort zu 1: Weil die Schulleiterin nicht alles alleine machen kann.

2. Welche Pflichten, haben Sie, die andere Lehrer nicht haben ?

Antwort zu 2: Ja, ich muss, z.B. Aufnahmegespräche führen, Klassenarbeiten unterschreiben, Feiern organisieren, Lehrer unterstützen, Listen für die Klassenbücher fertig stellen.

3. Gehen Sie für Projekte auch an andere Schulen ?

Antwort zu 3: Weniger für Projekte, ich gehe aber zu verschiedenen Infoabenden über Schulsysteme und Grundschulthemen.

4. Wer hat entschieden, dass sie Abteilungsleiterin werden?

Antwort zu 4: Nach einer Prüfung hat ein Dezernat entschieden, ob ich Abteilungsleiterin werde oder nicht.

5.Wieso haben sie sich gerade an dieser Schule beworben?

Antwort zu 5: Weil ich dort arbeiten wollte, wo ich auch wohnte, die Schule hat immer wieder neue Ideen. Außerdem ist sie mir empfohlen worden.

6. Sind sie zufrieden mit ihrer Jahrgangsstufe ? Antwort zu 6: Ja, ich arbeite gerne mit ihr zusammen und

ich fühle mich sehr wohl.

1. Why do we have heads of year at this school?

- Because the headmistress can’t do everything on her own.

2. What do you have to do that the other teachers don't have to do?

- My tasks include: Signing class tests, lead new admission interviews, organise school holidays, support teachers and prepare the class books, among other things.

3. Do you take part in the Socrates projects? - No, but I attend information evenings about school systems and issues

regarding primary schools.

4. Who decides who is a head of year? - After taking an exam, the Department of Education decides if you can be a

head of year

5. Why did you decide to join this school in particular?

- I wanted to work near where I live, the school always has lots of new ideas. The school was also recommended to me.

6. Are you happy with your year group?

- Yes, I really enjoy working together with them and I feel very happy there.

AGAG

AG bedeutet Arbeitsgemeinschaft. Es ist für die 5. und 6. Klasse Pflicht eine AG zu wählen. Von der 7. - 10. Klasse kann man es freiwillig machen. Wir haben viele verschiedene AG‘s z.B. Fußball Jungen und Mädchen, Klettern oder Garten.

AGAG

AG stands for Arbeitsgemeinschaft. These are extra curricular activities. For pupils from the 5th and 6th years, participation in a AG is compulsory.

From the 7th year onwards, participation is optional.We have many different AGs: Football for boys and girls, climbing or gardening etc.
