Purpose

The WEM System Status document provides the user with an overview of the

WEM GUI system status management functionality. The document includes the

following information:

WSS Card status

WSS application status

Link status

Users status

Audience

This guide is for operators in charge of managing and monitoring an Alcatel-

Lucent 5060 Wireless Call Server (WCS).

Contents

Section 1 Provides a comprehensive overview of the System Status management

Functionality.

Terminological Conventions

The following terminological conventions are used in this document:

The terminology used is that specified by the International

Telecommunication Union Telecommunication standardization sector (ITU-

T) and European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) standards

On the GUI, WSS indicates the Wireless Call Server (WCS)

Procedures described in this guide are performed using a mouse. "Click"

means use the left mouse button. "Right-click" means use the right mouse

button

1.1 Overview

The System Status functionality provides the user with information pertaining to

the WMG, WSS, and associated cards, facilities and links.

The System Status main screen can be accessed in several different ways:

1. From the main toolbar, select Go and then click System Status. (Figure 1-1).

2. From the shortcut bar, click System Status. (Figure 1-2)

1.2 System Status Function

After selecting the System Status function, the system defaults to the WMG

Node Status tab. (Figure 1-3) The WMG node data is displayed in the workspace.

In addition to the information available on the system banner, the System

Status functionality also includes operational and administrative states for each

node.

The WEM GUI provides the following status tabs for active components on the

system:

WMG Node Status

WMG Card Status

WSS Card Status

SS7 Link Status

Users Status

1.2.1 WMG Node Status

The WMG Node Status tab displays the status information for each media

gateway node provisioned in the system.

Figure 1-3 shows the WMG Node Status tab.

Table 1-1 lists the WMG Node Status tab fields and descriptions.

1.2.2 WMG Card Status

The WMG Card Status tab displays the system information for the system's WMG

cards. The tab provides information pertinent to each provisioned card in the

WMG node. Figure 1-4 shows the WMG Card Status tab.

WMG Node CPU Occupancy CPU Avg % Average CPU usage for all cards in the system.

CPU Peak % Peak CPU usage for all cards in the system.

WMG Node Traffic Peak Connections/s Peak connections per second

Avg. Connections/s Average connections per second

Total Connections/s Total connections per second

Call Attempts/h Call attempts per hour

WMG Node Status WMG Node ID Operator provisioned name for the WMG node

Operational State Current operational state of the WMG node

Admin State Administrative state of the WMG node

%CPU Occupancy Average CPU use for the WMG node

Conn Traffic/sec Connected traffic per second

1.2.3 WSS Card Status

The WSS Card Status tab displays the system information for the system's WSS

node. The tab provides the following information:

System WSS CPU average and peak usage

Operational and administrative states for each WSS in the system

% CPU Occupancy

Figure 1-5 shows the WSS Card Status tab.

Field Description

WMG Node ID Operator provisioned name for the WMG node

Card type & Slot Specifies the ID and slot location of each

provisioned WMG card in the node

Operational State Specifies the operational state of the card

Admin State Specifies the administrative state of the card

Summary Lists the protecting/protected relationship of the

cards in the WMG node

Field Description

CPU Avg % Average CPU usage for all cards in the system.

CPU Peak % Peak CPU usage for all cards in the system.

MSC Node ID Specifies the ID of a specific WSS card.

Admin State Specifies the WSS’s administrative state.

% CPU Occupancy Average CPU usage for this node

Card Status Specifies wether card is Active or Inactive

Operational State Specifies the card’s operational state.

1.2.4 SS7 Link Status

The SS7 Link Status tab displays information for the intra-system links, including

link IDs and the status of each link. Figure 1-6 shows the SS7 Link Status tab.

1.2.5 Users StatusThe Users Status tab displays information about users, as specified by the

system administrator.

Figure 1-7 shows the Users Status tab.

Link ID Specifies the ID of each link.

Link Type Specifies the link type

ActStatus Specifies whether the link is active or down or connecting.

Inhibit Status Specifies the link inhibit status

Block Status Specifies wether link is blocked or not

Congestion Specifies wether link is congested or not
