Station 12 Information sheet (2)
Text
This is a koala bear. Koala bears sleep up to eighteen hours a day. They are famous for Australia. Their colour is brown or grey. They love to sit in trees.
You can find many kangaroos in Australia. They can jump very high. There are different kinds of kangaroos. The babies are called “Joeys”. They live in mummy’s tummy.
This is a famous mountain in Australia: the Ayer’s Rock. It is also called “Uluru“. Sometimes it is red, sometimes orange or brown – it depends on the sun. For the Aborigines the Uluru is holy.
If you like fish you should visit the Great Barrier Reef. Many colourful fish live there and tourists like to snorkel or dive here. It is one of the “Seven Wonders of the World”.
You can find the famous Opera House in Sydney. There are five theatres in it and many tourists come here to visit. It was opened in 1973.
If you are in Sydney you can visit the Harbour Bridge. It is 1,149 metres long and 134 metres high. It is very famous and these days you can climb on the bridge for a lot of money.
