Dear Festival Guests,
We are once again looking forward with anticipation to our festival, now in its 19th year! This year, we have increased our focus on supporting new talent by opening the stage to even younger artists and choreographers. The high level of talent amongst this age group was already apparent in the quality of applications we received. The fact that we are able to offer these young, talented people feedback on their per-formances, as well as the opportunity to network with other creative individuals and compare their performances, makes this festival unique! However, it has only been possible to offer this festival thanks to the partners we have supporting us, and who we would like to thank here for their creative and financial input. We are looking forward to sharing great dance experiences with you, dear guests, and wish us all four days of inspiration and rich experiences!

Tanja Liedtke Foundation
The Tanja Liedtke Foundation was established in 2008 to honour the dancer and choreographer, Tanja Liedtke. The foundation‘s purpose is to preserve the artistic legacy of Tanja Liedtke, support the development of contemporary dance theatre and foster Australian/European artistic connections. The Tanja Liedtke Foundation seeks to achieve this by encouraging, supporting and celebrating a spirit of creative adventure in choreography and dance practice, and by enabling exciting opportunities for a broad range of dance artists. The International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival Stuttgart is an excellent platform to follow the aims of the Tanja Liedtke Foundation and support the development of the International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival. The concept of the artistic director Marcelo Santos and the design of the festival are in line with the vision of the TLF. This event gives young dancers/choreo-graphers the unique oppor-tunity to make themselves known to an international au-dience and gain the attention of an interested public for contemporary dance theatre. At the same time the artists receive very informative feedback from a high calibre, expert jury.

Why do we do stupid things? Other beings don‘t have time for as many stupid things as we do. Is it luxury that we have time for useless and stupid things? Wouldn‘t it be great if we used the time we spend on stupidity for good, instead? The more we get, the less we appreciate the things we already possess. Let‘s start appreciating the small things again and use this stupidity of being human for happiness.

The aim of the piece „My Box“ is to encourage the critical questioning of the western world and its status, as in spite of its dominance and power it fails to offer everyone a dignified life.

The piece deals with loneliness and companionship. Alone, a little grain of sand is nothing. It is the same for human beings: United in a community we are much stronger. Nevertheless, we create our own little islands and remove ourselves from our fellow human beings.

This piece wants to highlight the factthat we all share so many similarexperiences in our lives. All of us have

This piece is an intense investigation of a way to move/be/exist in the world, a characterisic trait which is naturally ta-ken as something that disables dancing. Epilepsy drives the interpreter to the attempt to express the movement in its rawest mode: The spasm.

Sayed Labib (Egypt)• Education in traditional egyptian folklore dance at Danceacademy in Ismailia• Worked as a professional dancer with different com- panies in Egypt• 2007 He came to Vienna and worked for two years as a folklore and oriental dancer and teacher• 2009 - 2013 Contemporary dance Education at Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität• 2913 Premiere of „El Zohd“ by Labib Company• Currently working as a choreographer for „Tanz die Toleranz“, Caritas Wien
When the artist came to Europe, he found himself confron-ted with a lot of different views about gender. In his home country Egypt, there is a very strict and specific conceptof how men should be, whereas in Europe there seems to bea more open-minded picture of manhood that is propaga-ted. His piece wants to portray the approach of those twodifferent sides, in an attempt to free himself from any kindof stereotypes and demands.

The piece narrates the story of a woman who carries a secret. It‘s her personal story and therefore a part of her identity, butshe doesn‘t like talking about it. However, her boyfriend wantsto know about it. When she finally starts talking, it‘s up to him how to handle it.

Der vollständige Titel des Stücks lautet „I‘m not a Jew, Israeli, Vegan, Lesbian, Woman.
The full title of the piece is „I‘m not a Jew, Israeli, Vegan, Lesbian, Woman. I am Tamar.“ The artist reflects on herconflict of putting herself into a definition. The choreogra-phic work underlines the conflict with words in general, especially when one single word tries to reduce abstractcomplex ideas to a common denominator. However, sherealizes that she has to live by the verbal law in order to beaccepted in the society.

In the wake of recent police related deaths of black men inAmerica, and the public outcry which has rippled around theworld, the choreographer was inspired to explore his ownexperience of what it is to be black, male and American. It‘sabout his attempt to understand one‘s place in the world as ablack male and as an American abroad.

„Sharp“ is a work based on the research of schizophrenia andautism. It portrays the journey of an ordinary man who realizesthat, despite the world feeling crowded, sometimes we still feel alone. He experiences himself confronted with hallucina-tions and fear, detecting the functionality of our mind that caneither enslave or liberate us. Within this journey he will findthe path to liberation through the acceptance that first he hasto die in order to be revived.
