Petoskey District Library ~ The World is Only a Visit Away
LETTER FROM OUR DIRECTOR
Val Meyerson
Free Library Card Service Area Expanded!
Little Traverse, Springvale, Resort, and Bear Creek Townships as well as City of Petoskey residents all qualify for a free public library card from the Petoskey District Library. Since the millage approval in November 2016, not only have we added Little Traverse and Springvale to our service area, the Board of Trustees also approved free cards to all students who attend school and employees who work in the city or one of our four townships (who do not qualify for another local consortium library card). If you have not visited in a while – stop in for your free card and to see all that is new.
Some unique services that the library now offers: notary service, book club kits, kindles to check out, ready read kits, fly fishing rods, Repair Café, Makerspace with a 3D printer, Used Book Sale, meeting room usage, technology training, and wifi hotspots. We also provide many different digital collections including books, audio books, movies,
lessons, music, graphic novels, and comic books. Moreover, remember to check out some of the programming we offer like our code club and life-long learning classes.
The Petoskey District Library is striving to become a place where all our residents embrace the library as a critical part of the community – all it takes is one visit to see for yourselves. Give it a try.
We hope you enjoy our quarterly newsletter direct mailed to your home. If you would like to continue to receive this quarterly publication in the mail, please join our Friends of the Library, or sign up for eNews for an
emailed version at www.petoskeylibrary.org.

LETTER FROM OUR FRIENDS’ PRESIDENT
Gayle Mroczkowski
Summer glorious summer...The Friends of the Petoskey Public Library (FOPPL) are entering our busy season! There is a lot going on over the next few months and we invite you to take advantage of all that we do. From our Carnegie series to our July used book sale (as part of Petoskey’s Sidewalk sales), there are many opportunities to expand your knowledge via reading and programs.
On another note, our Petoskey District Library, in partnership with Greenwood Cemetery, is moving swiftly forward with the digitization of Petoskey area newspapers from the years 1875-present day. This will allow our patrons to access information in a much easier and tech friendly way. A
vendor has been selected and our FOPPL Board of Directors has presented a check to our Director, Val Meyerson. Thanks to all our Friends members and the community for supporting us financially throughout the year.
In partnership with the library staff, we strive to make your library as accessible, friendly and current as possible. Judging from the increases in both our regular and digital circulation and the large audiences at our classes and programs, we believe you are pleased! Let us know directly how we are doing, we value your input. As always, HAPPY READING!
The mission of the Friends of the Petoskey Public Library, a volunteer organization, is to promote and support the Petoskey District Library in its endeavor to provide open access to resources which satisfy the lifelong informational, educational, and
cultural needs of the members of our community. President – Gayle Mroczkowski Vice President – Peg Pinho Secretary – Anne Lewis Treasurer – Joyce Hutto-Nolan Board Members: Ann Barfknecht, Merry Baxter, Jane Damschroder, Mary Daniels, Ann Ingles, Lynnet Johnson,
