ADERN SUCHEN UND FINDEN..........................................................................Hierzu drücken Sie ca. 1 Sek. die Einschalttaste (einEinschaltton bestätigt, dass das Gerät eingeschaltetwurde). Bewegen Sie den Probe vor dem Kabel inmax. 100 cm Entfernung hin und her und verfolgen Siedas empfangene Signal. Durch erneutes kurzesdrücken des Einschaltetaste regeln Sie dieEmpfindlichkeit des Probes zwischen Nah (einBestätigungston) und Fern (zwei Bestätigungstöne). Durch diese Technik grenzen Sie die Doppelader bisauf wenige Millimeter ein. Um sicherzugehen, dass Siedie richtige Doppelader gefunden haben, schließen Siebeide Adern kurz, dadurch sollte das Tonsignalverstummen.

KOMPATIBILITÄT..........................................................................Der TP500J hat einen auf 1 kHz abgestimmtenFrequenzfilter und ist dadurch am besten im Paket mitdem Tongenerator TG 600J zu betreiben. Der TP 510Jarbeitet mit jedem Tongenerator zusammen der eineFrequenz zwischen 500Hz und 3 kHz benutzt (z.B.PTS200 oder TG210).

KOPFHÖRERFUNKTION..........................................................................Der Tone Probe besitzt eine Buchse in die Sie einenKopfhörer (Option) einstecken können. Während desBetriebes mit einem Kopfhörer wird der Lautsprecherim Tone Probe abgeschaltet. So können Sie auch inBüroräumen störungsfrei arbeiten.

REICHWEITE..........................................................................Es ist möglich, im Zusammenhang mit dem PTS200ein Signal über eine Entfernung von 10 km zuverfolgen. Dieses ist abhängig von derGeräuschkulisse, die am anderen Ende des Kabelsvorherrscht. (Je nach Qualität der Leitung undLautstärke der Geräuschkulisse, ist meist noch einegrößere Distanz möglich.)

MODE D'EMPLOI.........................................................................Installation de la pileLa sonde de repérage 500J ou 510J nécessite une pile9 volts (PP3 ou IEC 6LR61). Il est recommandé den'utiliser que des piles alcalines.Pour changer la pile, éteindre l'unité, dévisser et retirerle couvercle. Ne pas tenter d'entrer dans le restant duboîtier, au risque d'endommager le joint d'étanchéité etd'invalider la garantie. Remplacer la pile en vousassurant que la polarité de celle-ci corresponde auxmarques indiquées dans le compartiment. Pourgarantir une étanchéité continue, vérifier que le joint ducompartiment pile est propre et bien en place avant deremettre le couvercle et de resserrer les vis.

FONCTIONNEMENT.........................................................................Votre sonde de repérage ne possède qu'un seulbouton de commande. Appuyer sur le bouton pendantune demi-seconde pour mettre en marche. Vousentendrez un BIP haute fréquence de confirmation.Appuyer à nouveau pendant une demi-seconde pourl'arrêter. Vous entendrez un BIP de fréquence plusfaible pour confirmer.Lors de la première mise en route, votre sonde derepérage est en mode de sensibilité élevée. Changer leréglage par une courte pression du bouton. Une tonalité de confirmation est émise: BIP =sensibilité faible, BIP BIP = sensibilité élevée.

TEMPORISATION.........................................................................Pour ménager la pile, votre sonde s'éteindra cinqminutes après la dernière pression sur le bouton.A la fin de la période de temporisation, votre sondes'éteindra après émission d'une tonalité de clôture.

PILE DÉCHARGÉE.........................................................................Si la tension de la pile tombe pendant lefonctionnement, il y a émission d'une indication sonore.Cette indication sera aussi émise à chaque mise enmarche si la pile est en état de décharge. Il s'agit detrois tonalités à fréquences décroissantes.

OPÉRATION AVEC ÉCOUTEURS.........................................................................Brancher des écouteurs appropriés, comme lesécouteurs TXRX7 ou 8 (microphone non utilisé avecl'unité TP500J ou 519J) ou RX17 ou 18. SÉCURITÉ:l'utilisation d'autres type d'écouteurs peutconduire pour l'utilisateur à une exposition audio àdes niveaux dangereux. Le fonctionnement estidentique à ce qu'il est lors de l'utilisation de la sondesans écouteurs. Le haut-parleur sera coupé pour éviterde déranger les autres. Si la prise s'encrasse, lanettoyer à l'aide d'une brosse.

COMPATIBILITÉ.........................................................................L'unité TP500J possède un filtrage strict centré sur1kHz et de meilleurs résultats sont obtenu avec legénérateur Tempo TG600J . L'unité TP510J possèdeun filtre moins sélectif et fonctionnera bien avec toutoscillateur produisant des tonalités dans le domaine500 Hz à 3 kHz, par exemple la série Tempo TG210 ouPTS200.

TRAÇAGE DE PAIRES..........................................................................Connecter chaque câble de votre oscillateur à un fil de lapaire. Vérifier que la tonalité est bien émise avant de quitterl'oscillateur. Votre sonde de repérage détecte le champélectrostatique autour du fil et reproduit celui-ci après filtragepour réduire les perturbations due au secteur.Dans la plupart des circonstances, le réglage àsensibilité faible fonctionnera bien, mais si le signal estfaible ou bruyant, le choix de la sensibilité plus élevéepeut porter assistance. L'utilisation d'un combinéd'essai, en mode Écoute Discrète, peut aider dans unenvironnement bruyant.Le fait de placer la sonde le long de la paire de fils donneun signal fort sauf là où les fils se croisent. Il devrait yavoir ici un zéro notable. Déplacer la sonde de part etd'autre, le long du fil, pour confirmer cet état de choses. Placer la pointe de la sonde entre les deux fils de lapaire torsadée devrait donner un signal minimum. Si teln'est pas le cas, il y a lieu de suspecter une paireséparée (deux fils en provenance de deux pairesdifférentes) ou une paire défectueuse avec un fil rompuou à résistance élevée.Une mise en court-circuit de la paire devrait conduire àla disparition complète du signal ou à sa chute à unniveau très faible. Ceci confirme que vous avez bientrouvé la bonne paire.

BATTERY INSTALLATION..........................................................................Tone Probe 500J or 510J requires a 9 volt (PP3 or IEC6LR61) battery. ONLY Alkaline batteries arerecommended.To change the battery, first ensure that the unit isswitched off, release the two screws on the undersideand remove the cover. Do not attempt to enter the restof the case as you will damage the sealing and void thewarranty. Replace the battery ensuring that the polaritymatches the marks shown in the compartment. Toensure continued water resistance, check that thebattery compartment seal is clean and in place beforereplacing the cover and re-tightening the screws.

OPERATION..........................................................................Your Tone Probe has only one pushbutton control.Press and hold for half a second to switch on. You willhear a high beep to confirm. Press and hold again forhalf a second to switch off. You'll hear a lower beep toconfirm. When first switched on your Tone Probe is inhigh sensitivity mode. Change the setting with a shortpress of the button. A confirmation tone is produced:BEEP=Low sensitivity, BEEP-BEEP= High sensitivity.

TIMEOUT..........................................................................To conserve the battery, your Tone Probe will switch off,five minutes after the last button press.At the end of the timeout period your Tone Probe willshutdown after producing a sign-off tone consisting ofthree beeps followed by a higher pitched beep.

BATTERY LOW..........................................................................If the battery voltage drops during operation, an audibleindication is given. This indication will also be giveneach time the unit is switched on if the battery is low.This is three falling tones.

HEADSET OPERATION..........................................................................Plug in a suitable headset. Headsets TXRX7 or 8(microphone not used with TP500J or 510J), or RX17or 18. SAFETY: Use of other headsets may result inthe user's audio exposure exceeding safe limits.Operation is identical to using the probe on its own. Theloudspeaker will be switched off to prevent disturbingothers. If the socket gets dirty, just clean it with a brush.

COMPATIBILTY..........................................................................TP500J has tighter filtering and is best suited for usewith Tempo’s high power oscillator, TG600J. Whereas,TP510J has a less selective filter and will work well withany oscillator producing tones in the range 500Hz to3kHz, e.g. Tempo’s TG210 or PTS200 series.

PAIR TRACING..........................................................................Connect each lead of your oscillator to one wire of thepair. Check that the tone is being sent before leavingthe oscillator. Your Tone Probe detects the electrostaticfield around the wire pair and reproduces this afterfiltering to reduce mains interference.

In most circumstances the low sensitivity setting willwork well but if the signal is weak or noisy thenchoosing the higher sensitivity setting may help. Usinga buttset, in monitor mode, can help in a noisyenvironment.Placing the probe alongside the pair gives a strongsignal except where the wires cross. Here there shouldbe a noticeable null. Move the probe back and forthalong the wire to confirm this.Placing the tip in the centre of an opened twist of thepair should give a minimum signal. If it does notdecrease, suspect a split pair (two wires from differentpairs) or a faulty pair one wire broken or highresistance.Shorting the pair should cause the signal to completelydisappear or fall to a very low level. This verifies thatyou have the right pair.
