Project`s idea
Survivng and creation of nation`s future are impossible without the
memory of past generations, caring for the preservation of our roots.
Nowadays many cities have Jewish cemeteries but, unfortunately,
most of the graves in them are in a neglected state.
After the action, many descendants of those buried in these graves are
not able to take care of burial places of their ancestors. But Jewish graves
do not belong to one family - it's a piece of Jewish history. For each
community life participant in Russia and other countries taking care
of Jewish cemeteries - one of the priorities.
For centuries, Jews were scattered throughout the world, but
everywhere and always we were one nation. And the memory of our
ancestors - is the memory of the heart of every Jew. Therefore, modern
Jewish youth of Russia decided to participate in the "Beit Haim” project. In
Hebrew, "Beit Haim" means "cemetery", literally translated as "house of
life“ . This title carries the deep importance of the graves of our ancestors as
a reminder about the sources of our life, the history of our nation and its
progress in the future.

The project is a youth volunteer action. More than
5,000 young people from 50 cities of Russia will be able to help in
the care of Jewish cemeteries in their areas and make a huge,
important thing - to begin to return the memory of the history of
Russian Jewry in each of our cities!
