I hope everyone is enjoying this pro-longed heat wave that Mother Nature has dealt us over past few weeks. I am so thankful we decided to put air conditioning in the house two years

ago! We had a fantastic time at Por-sche Parade two weeks ago. It started with a caravan of cars that included the Isleys, Sorianos, Schoens and Mierzwiaks heading over in 90 degree sun with the top down in Sarah’s 911 Cab. Needless to say, we made it into Indiana and had to put the top up so I could avoid burning the old forehead. We were treated to a fantastic welcome party that evening out in an airplane hangar featuring vintage World War II planes along with some very nice Porsche cars including an original 904.

Each day of Parade presented new and fun activities for everyone. We got to walk around on Saturday watching all of the diehard people preparing their cars for the Concour. I learned a lot from talking to some really knowledgeable people on just what’s involved in prepping a car. This is definitely not something I could see myself doing. I got to see husbands & wives literally crawling over every inch of their cars with toothbrushes and q-tips getting dirt out of every nick and cranny. Sarah

& I got to participate in a Gimmick Rally that sent us out in to the coun-tryside looking for clues along the way. We had a great time and even sought out a terrific winery along the way.

One of the really fun events was an autocross that Michelin tire set up to show off their new Sport Cup tires. Michael Soriano and I got to drive two brand new Boxster Spyders out-fitted with different sets of tire as a comparison. We both came away with huge grins on our face. We even made it into downtown Chi-cago to do some shopping one of the days while some of the other region members enjoyed an architectural riverboat cruise. All in all, I think everyone from our club had a terrific time.

This past weekend we were treated to a Mardi Gras party at Jim & Diane Schoens house. They did a great job of hosting the party. Jim made a huge pot of Jambalaya filled with different ingredients. I’m sure

Just as we were getting ready to leave for Parade, Jason Perry called to inform me that Vin Devers had given up their Por-sche franchise. This leaves us as one of the few regions in PCA that do not have a dealer in the region. Just what that means for us cannot be determined for now. Jason did say that Vin Devers will continue to support MVR for the foreseeable future and they will continue to advertise in the newsletter. Vin Devers is still plan-ning on having the European car show in September and is counting on us to help support the show.

The newsletter is late in this month due to being at Parade and not spending any time on the newsletter as I had intended. It was just too much fun. Look for the Soriano’s to put together a story for next month.

Be sure to watch the calendar in the newsletter or check the MVR web page for any additional updates.

This weekend is our IRAC autocross out at Owens Community College. Hopefully several club members can make it out with their cars. I am planning on trying out Sarah’s 911 to see how the car performs.

The last weekend of July will be Porsches to Oxford. They are hoping to have over 500 cars show up to this neat event.
