HOLY CHILD PARISH BRIDGEVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA

God, our creator, you did not leave us orphans. You sent your Son, Jesus Christ, that we might see your face and know your life-giving presence in our midst.

Make us one. Protect us from evil. Consecrate us in truth today and every day of our lives.

As You Sent Me into the World, So I Sent Them into the World. In the creation story we are told that God made human beings “in His image.” This doesn’t

mean that we are exact clones or identical twins of God, but rather that each of us, in light of our unique gifts and characteristics, are created to reflect the vibrant life and loving face of God to others. God’s hand in our lives doesn’t end in creating us. Throughout our lives God gives us purpose and fills us with the gifts we need to fulfill that purpose. The challenge for us is for us to know ourselves as God knows us. Through prayer and in humility we are invited to see clearly God’s will for our lives and all he has provided so that his will and our lives may be complete. God hasn’t randomly or thoughtlessly placed us in this world to create a reality for ourselves. He has sent us into the world with a specific task in mind that we might love others and build up his kingdom in the Church, making it ever more Alive! Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.

Sunday Contributions For May 6, 2018: Regular Collection $12,385.00 Building Maintenance Collection $ 2,402.00 Thank you one and all for your continued generosity and support of our parish community.

A Family Perspective (by Bud Ozar): Jesus was worried about his disciples and he turned to prayer. No matter how much time we spent trying to “guard and protect” our children, each day they become less dependent on us and we must let go and let God. Prayer and parenting go together.

We extend our condolences to the families of Mont “Monti” Trimble, Jr. and Alex S. Simon, III who were buried

from Holy Child Parish. May they rest in peace in the kingdom of God. May their families and friends know the faithfulness of Christ’s love.

For those men who took the prospect cards for joining the Knights of Columbus at the membership drive last month, please complete the cards & return them to the rectory or drop them in

the collection basket at Mass so that we can begin the process of induction. You may also contact Ken Masztak at 412-400-9231 or [email protected] or Mark Zik at 412-265-7533 or [email protected].

Blessing of Mothers: During the sea-son of Easter, what a great time to remem-ber our mothers and ask for God's blessing

on them. It is God who ultimately gave us life. It is through God's unselfish love--mirrored in our mothers' willingness to associate their love with God's and take the risk to love us into life--that we have the opportunity for life. We remember our mothers this Mother's Day with much love. Let us pray for each of them:

God our heavenly Father, you give to each the ability to share your generative love.

Bless those women in our lives who mirror your love and bring forth life through their willingness

to risk bringing new life into this world. Help us to show them our gratitude

for the gift of life and the gift of a mother's love. May our life-giving God continue to bless them

and show them his unfailing love. We ask this through Jesus, God's Son and our brother.

Amen.
