The major issue is how to protect below-grade structures against ground water. The lecture presents the theoretical side, such as the current German and European Standards on watertight concrete structures (DIN 1045), but also the traditional bituminous waterproofing systems (DIN 18195). Apart from acquiring this theoretical knowledge, the students will be provided with an overview on innovative technologies being available on the market. The technology itself and the economical aspects will be discussed during the lecture. Prerequisites: none Course objectives expressed in learning outcomes and competences: After having successfully completed the course, the students should x have basic knowledge of structural waterproofing below grade.
