    Dear friends, residents and visitors:

The Fall Fest Committee and the

Angola Area Chamber of Commerce are

very excited about welcoming our visitorsand community to Fall Fest 2011. Fall Fest

is a family-oriented festival and has been a

    great event for our community.

This is my third year to be involved as

chairman of Fall Fest and Im excited

about all that it has to offer. The food

court is always a favorite, along with the

bands playing in the downtown and the

kids having a great time with the many

activities geared toward them. Last year

we had a great time at the Civil War Daysin the Commons Park. The Civil War

Encampment will also be great this year,

whether you are a participant or observer.

Im excited about the new activities we

will have along, with bringing back some

    of the favorites.

The Lift Off for Literacy will again take

place on the Public Square. There will be

Silly Safari Funologist Amazon John back

    for a repeat performance.

    The waiter and waitress competition

continues this year, which should be a lot

    of fun.

We are having several great bands on

the main stage, such as George Damron,Blue Skyway, Elements, Jim Dove, Sierra

Sham and Rhon Van Erman. The adult

beverage tent will have two great bands on

    Friday and Saturday nights.

The A-Town Dance Company will also

be on hand to perform this year, too.

Because the city and our committee

want to ensure your safety we will have

crossing guards around the Public Square

    for most of the weekend.

I hope you will take advantage of thiswonderful event in your downtown by

bringing your family and friends. Fall Fest

wouldnt be the wonderful festival it is

without you, our community and all the

businesses that stepped up to be Fall Fest

    sponsors.

    See you this weekend!

Civil War Days visits Battle of NashvilleBY JENNIFER [email protected]

ANGOLA This year marks the 150th anniversary of

the beginning of the Civil War.As in past years, the fifth annual Angola Civil War

Days will once again take place during Fall Fest, Sept. 24-

Cara Macknick, Civil War Days secretary, said 300 re-

enactors from seven states and two countries will converge

on the park to bring history to life. This year, they will re-

    enact the Battle of Nashville.

Civil War Days started on the lawn of the Kline

Museum eight years ago. Once the event grew too big, it

York actor Patrick Falci, who will portray Gen. A.P. Hill

and narrate the Battle of Nashville.

We also have the pre-1840 group, fur trader and

mountain men. The Civil War is the main feature,

Macknick said. This has everything to do with American

    history.
