Caspar de Gelmini studierte nach einer studienvorbereitenden Ausbildung in Ber-lin KomposiƟ on an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock, an der er seine Vordiplom-Prüfung ablegte. Anschließend studierte er bis zu seiner Diplom-Prü-fung an der Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar. Nach seinem Diplom folgte ein postgraduelles Studium an der Universität Mozarteum Salzburg sowie ein Ma-ster an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in StuƩ gart. Während seines Studiums nahm er Auslandsaufenthalte wahr, an der Königlichen Musikhochschule in Stockholm, an der Musikakademie Basel, am Conservatoire naƟ onal supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris und am IRCAM. Seine Lehrer im Haupƞ ach KomposiƟ on waren: Helmut Zapf, Peter Manfred Wolf, Michael Obst, AnneƩ e Schlünz, Pär Lindgren, Karin Rehnqvist, Georg Friedrich Haas, Michel Roth (Musiktheorie), Tristan Murail, Marco Stroppa, Frédéric Durieux und Hèctor Parra. Er war Finalist und Preisträger beim KomposiƟ onspreis der Weimarer Frühjahrs-tage für zeitgenössische Musik (2005, 2007), Preisträger beim BMW KomposiƟ ons-preis der Musica Viva in München (2008, 2010), Preisträger des Reading Panel des IRCAM (2012; 2014) und Finalist des Ö1 Talentebörse KomposiƟ onspreises in Ös-terreich (2013). SƟ pendien bekam er u.a. von der Gerda und Luigi Prade SƟ Ō ung, der Oscar und Vera RiƩ er SƟ Ō ung, der Friedrich Naumann SƟ Ō ung für die Freiheit, der StudiensƟ Ō ung des deutschen Volkes und vom Deutschen Akademischen Aus-tauschdienst. Seit 2007 erscheinen seine Werke bei Verlag Neue Musik. Er arbei-tete mit dem Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, mit dem Ensemble Intercontemporain Paris, Ensemble Recherche, Work in Progress Berlin, Ensemble Phorminx Darmstadt, Ensemble Junge Musik Berlin und vielen anderen.
