ROOM LAYOUT

•IMPORTANCE OF ROOM LAYOUT

•SERVICEABILITY

•VENTILATION

•EASE IN OPERATION

•GENSET ROOM AESTHETICS

•FUTURE EXPANSION PLANS TO BE

CONSIDERED WHILE DECIDING ON

ROOM SIZE.

•OPENING / SHUTTERS TO BE

PROVIDED FOR GEN-SET PLACEMENT

ROOM VENTILATION

•PROPER VENTILATION IS NECESSARY TO

•Provide clean and fresh combustion air •Remove heat enrgy dissipated by the gen-set

•IMPROPER VENTILATION CAN LEAD TO :

•Poor fuel efficiency

•Poor perfomance

•Failure of rubber components

•Higher room temperatures

•High temperature rise in gen-set windings

•For integral radiator cooled engine, discharge air to

 be ducted

For heat exchanger cooled engine, forcedventilation is required

•FOUNDATION

•Installation shouldn’t be on loose sand or clay

Foundation should be designed considering safe bearingcapacity of soil

•Length and Breadth of the foundation to be greater than that

of the Genset Base-frame.

•UNLOADING

•Lift the Genset using thelifting eye provided on the

Base frame only

•Use spreader bar, proper

capacity nylon sling/steel rope

and crane.•Keep the genset covered

during Installation.

•EXHAUST SYSTEM

•Designed in a way to minimize

the Backpressure.•High backpressure can

lead to:

•Lower fuel economy

•High Exhaust Temp

•Poor engine

 perfomance and less

durability•Weight of the Exhaust system not to be supported by the Engine.

•Exhaust pipe recommended to be of Mild steel or can be higher Grade steel

depending on the Spec. requirement

•Exhaust system to be in the direction of prevailing winds•Install Rain-cap at the end.

•Exhaust pipe to be slanted away from the engine.

•Exhaust system to be insulated and lagged.

• Not recommended to use Common Exhaust Pipe for Multiple Engine.

•FUEL SYSTEM

•External Fuel piping to be designed considering less restriction.

Day fuel tank to be sized min. for 8 hr fuel consumption.•GI piping / Material not to be used wherever there is a contact with Diesel.

•Emergency shut-off valve is recommended.

•Use proper colour coding for fuel pipes.

•Fuel system to be in line with the applicable specifications.
