JVA-STAMMHEIM PRISON
TASK DESCRIPTION Find spaces that represent city and knowledge. 2015SITE DESCRIPTION JVA-Stammheim is a prison located in the northern part of Stuttgart It stands with its bulky dominant build-ings since 1959 surrounded by and at the same time isolated from the rest of the district. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Learning as a process includes gaining knowledge, shaping certain behaviors, enhancing skills and reinforcing values, it also tackles education through personal development and training. Learning can be the main drive for change in the society. A prison can be considered also as learning place with an ultimate goal of rehabilitation. The new prison will work on merging two opposing groups in one place; a circular interaction process rathar than being linear; the idea is to bring the outside into the prison through the different activities and also bringing what the inmates do to the outer world.

Inmates spend almost all day in their cells without productive activities or educational system.
In order to break the communication between prisoners of different security levels it is important to separate them into buildings.

Abdai area caters to a wide range of users from all walks of life and all the classes of society. its high permeability, central location and close proximity to downtown are the factors that made Abdali important. And due to its richeness and the services it provides for many people, the market happens to be the most vibrant attraction in the area.PROJECT DESCRIPTION Because of its unique location and the activities held in, Alabdali site can serve as an intellectual meeting point and the contemporary souk would be designed to express the history and the past cultures, while refl ecting the present day modern gloss, in which a visitor might fi nd a paradox combining the modern technologies with the past historical values, while emphasizing the important role of culture in linking the past with the present.

HTW-DRESDEN RESEARCH CENTER
TASK DESCRIPTION Design of reserch center for the technical university of Dresden and to integrate it with the sustainable development of the campus. 2012SITE DESCRIPTION The Site is adjacent to the current location of the Technical university of Dresden replacing the parking lot.PROJECT DESCRIPTION The main idea was to create spatial relationship among the different departments, geotechnic, water science, Transportation and building material, required for this project. As the project would be bordered by the Campus's buildings and the university library, forces that affected the design were taken from the urban context which was shown in the geometry. The building is horizontally divided into different levels, the more you go higher, the more the spaces are quiete. The four departments are distributed around an atrium that functions as a natural light source and also works as the main vertical circulation element of the project. the facade the and the distribution of the openings follows the need for light in a particular space. There is as well the consideration of reaching the status of being an energy-effi cient building through the use of passive energy sources, air tight, proper insulation of the building's envelop, natural ventilation, good thermal mass of U-value: 0.26 W/m2k,V and the decrease of energy demand.

THE RECYCLED BUILDING
TASK DESCRIPTION Observation of Amman’s Marginalized Landscapes, peripheral voids & leftover infrastructure and spac-es, then rehabilitation of one of theses spaces. 2011SITE DESCRIPTION The abandoned building chosen, was a formal illegal paint factory, in the middle of the industrial area in Amman, which was left for informal scrap collecting by Turkmen, a very excluded and marginalized sub-society in Amman, and inappropriate behaviors including drug dealing and prostitution. PROJECT DESCRIPTION After some investigations and analysis of the urban context, and based on the activities happening there, it was decided to reuse the building as scrap recycling distributor. the former building had a distinctive facade, decpite its 'ugliness' it brought special charecter to the building, which brought the idea of recycling the building itsself through taking parts of the facade and leaving it to preserve the past while cherishing the present and the future.

FACADE REHABILITA-TION
TASK DESCRIPTION Redesign the old facades of the Jordani-an union complex in Amman, taking into consideration the histor-ical and urban depth of the surrounding area.SITE DESCRIPTION The Jordanian union complex is located in Shmesani Area in Amman, where the modern Ammani Architecture of the 80's is dominant. the union building is unique with its hideous form; due to the careless construction and excess use of cladding materials and architectural elements. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Reuse of the stones of the old facade of the complex and to use them as louvers carried by panels in an element called 'the stone mesh'. by reusing and reconfi guring the stones, we were able to not only achieve a more contemporary use of the traditional cladding material, but also minimize the environemental impact and ensure a more sustainable approach for designing in the city.

YOUR-SELF-ORGANIZEDPROJECT
TASK DESCRIPTION Understanding where and how refugees are living in Stuttgart, fi nding ways of integration in the city. SITE DESCRIPTION German cities are called upon to accom-modate more and more asylum seekers as well as refugees from civil war countries. The same is true for the city of Stuttgart that not only faces up to the task to accommodate the refugees, but moreover sees it also as a challenge for integration policy.PROJECT DESCRIPTION Refugees suffer from the lack of self actualization. This problem leads to their isolation and lack of interaction, therefore they become over institutionalized and dependent on the system. the 11-step process proposed is to help realizing self-organized projects by the refugees themselves. Our task through the implementation phase was to become the facilitators of introducing the refugees to the world of how to fi nd out common interest among them, how to present their ideas and develop them, how to have a saying in what is proposed and most importantly how to implement the project and fi nd their own way to continue it
