How do you use THE NET for people to learn …

… by being told?

You pipe CONTENT through THE NET


… by accessing resources?


You let them have access to CONTENT through THE NET


… by collaborating?


What?!


There is no doubt that

part of the future of learning is to be

found on CONTENT …

… but a significant part of it –

maybe the most significant part – is to be

found on CONTEXT


… on the production of CONTENT

and on the “delivery” of CONTENT…

We have been concentrating, so far, …

We already know a lot about it!

We can even contemplate standardization.

And that’s good!


But …

… activity rich, interaction rich,

and culturally rich

social environments?

… what do we know about

how to make learning happen in …


The tools we use for intellectual mediation

profundly influence the sense we make

of the World (Vygotsky)

The conceptualisation of knowledge is a

social artifact that is maintained

through communities of peers (Kuhn)


… that of building

CONTEXT-RICH VIRTUAL COMMUNITIES …

The biggest challenge of

NET LEARNING environments is …
