Iay on the bed trying to quit smoking and started instead to col-lect National Geographic magazines, losing myself in otherworlds, primeval forests or the surface of the Moon, visitingcraftsmen in different cultures. It soon became an obsession. Inthe end I was buying issues I already had. That’s when I madethe cabinet. To limit the size of my collection and put an end tothe whole damned nonsense. Later, when I put the cabinet ondisplay at Liljevalchs Art Gallery in 1988, this sweet old ladysaid she wanted to buy it. But she was astonished when she rea-lised the magazines were included in the price – and she saidshe wanted another, for her own collection. So I had to measureit all up again in preparation for making a new one. But it wassuch a chore. I’d already made my cabinet. So it never came toanything.Mats Theselius later perfected his National Geographic cabinetfor Källemo, and it has been in production since 1991.

llongé sur mon lit, je compense mon envie de fumer en collectionant desmagazines du National Geographic, je m'évade dans d'autres mondes,forêts primitives ou surface de la lune, je découvre les artisans de différen-tes cultures. Cela devînt bientôt une obsession, au point que j'achetai lesnuméros que j'avais déjà. C'est là que je créais le cabinet. Pour limiter lataille de ma collection et mettre un terme à ce qui devenait absurde.Lorsque j'ai présenté le cabinet à l'Liljevachs Art gallery en 1988, cettedouce vieille dame me dit qu'elle voulait l'acheter. Mais elle fut étonnéelorsqu'elle réalisa que le prix incluait les magazines et ajouta qu'elle envoulait un autre pour sa propre collection. J'ai donc du prendre les mesu-res pour la fabrication d'un nouveau. Mais ce fût une corvée. J'avais déjàfait mon cabinet. Le nouveau allait devoir naître de rien"Mats Theselius a adapté son Cabinet National Geographic pour Källemo,et la production a débuté en 1991.

antiago Calatrava Valls (born July 28, 1951) is an internationally recogni-zed and award-winning Spanish architect, sculptor and structural engi-neer whose principal office is in Zurich, Switzerland. Classed now amongthe elite designers of the world, he has offices in Zurich, Paris, New Yorkand elsewhere. Calatrava was born in Benimámet, a rural part ofValencia, Spain, where he pursued undergraduate studies at theArchitecture School and Arts and Crafts School. Calatrava is currentlydesigning the future train station - World Trade Center Transportation Hub- at Ground Zero in New York City. Calatrava is also a prolific sculptorand painter, claiming that the practice of architecture combines all thearts into one. Calatrava has received numerous recognitions. In 1990 hereceived the "Médaille d´Argent de la Recherche et de la Technique",Paris. In 1992 he received the prestigious Gold Medal from the Institutionof Structural Engineers. In 1993, the Museum of Modern Art in New Yorkheld a major exhibition of his work called “Structure and Expression." In1998 he was elected to become a member of "Les Arts et Lettres," in Paris.In 2004, he received the Gold Medal from the American Institute ofArchitects (AIA). In 2005, Calatrava was awarded the Eugene McDermottAward by the Council for the Arts of MIT.

Architecte,artiste, et ingénieur, Santiago Calatrava Valls est mondialementconnu sous le nom de Santiago Calatrava. Calatrava suit desétudes primaires et secondaires à Valence, puis s'incrit àl'Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura, où il obtient undiplôme d'architecture et suit un cours d'urbanisme. Il gagneson premier concours en 1983, pour la conception et la

construction de la gare de Stadelhofen à Zurich, la ville où ilinstalle son premier bureau. Ce fut le début des projets de pontsqui établirent sa réputation internationale. Parmi les nombreuxrécompenses et prix attribués à Santiago Calatrava, on peutciter : la médaille d'or de l'Institute of Structural Engineers,Londres ; la Médaille d'or du Mérite des Beaux-Arts, Ministèrede la Culture, Espagne ; chevalier des Arts et Lettres, Paris ; letitre Best of 2001 décerné par le magazine Time pour l'exten-

Eager for discovery, her many travels are thesource of her Art work. Graphic work og afro’caribbeaninspirations ; Mah Nyamu never ceases to explore andexpands as an artists and sculptor.A globe trotter artist who relishes glimpsing his environ-ment with an ethnologist’s eyes.

Mah Nyamu est une artiste originaire del’île de la Réunion. Résidente à St Martindepuis 9 ans, elle a participé à différentesexpositions : Saint- Martin, Sint Maarten,Saint Barth, Anguilla. Avide de découver-tes, ses nombreux voyages nourrissent lesthèmes de ses créations. Un travail gra-phique d’inspiration Afro Caribéenne.Mah Nyamu n’a de cesse d’explorer lesarts tant en peinture qu’en sculpture.
