The Broken Chain

We little knew that day, God was going to call your name.

In life we loved you dearly, in death, we do the same.

It broke our hearts to lose you. you did not go alone.

For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.

You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide.

And although we cannot see you, you are always at our side.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Memories

Reflections of Life

” I’m at peace at last you see, for my Father, He has rescued me. So, find

your peace in Him and you will see, He’s God that will rescue thee. So,

please don’t cry and mourn for me, for I’m at rest eternally.”

“Nell”

Mondell Belton was born on September 4, 1948 in Ridgeway, SC to the late

Monroe Belton, Jr. and Eva Belle Outten Belton. He peacefully departed

this life to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Prisma

Health Richland in Columbia, SC.

Mondell Belton or “Nell”, as family and friends affectionately knew him

was educated in the public schools of Kershaw County. He served in the

United States Army during the Vietnam War and received two Purple Hearts

and a Bronze Medal. After leaving the Army, he was employed at Du Pont,

May Plant in Lugoff, SC until his retirement.

He accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he

was a faithful member until his illness affected his ability to attend.

Mondell was blessed with one son, Troy Nortise Belton and six grandsons.

In his final days, he was surrounded by family and love ones as he made his

transition home.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his former wife, Doris Neal Belton; his

loving son, Troy Nortise (Nicole) Belton; six grandsons, Marquis, Troy,

Czar-Cortez, Walter, Kingston and Cyrus; three great-grandchildren, Paris,

London and Osiris; two brothers, Cleveland Belton and Eddie Lee (Beatrice)

Belton both of Columbia, SC; one sister, Janice Bernice (Victor) Palmer of

Columbia, SC; two aunts, Pearl Belton of Washington, DC and Maggie

Outten of Elgin, SC; two uncles, John (Carolyn) Outten and Alvin (Maggie)

Outten both of Elgin, SC; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and other

relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mondell was preceded in death by two brothers,

Charlie James Belton and Gary “Joe” Belton.

God Knows Best

God watched you as you suffered

and knew you had your share.

He gently closed your eyes

and took you in His care.

God has you in His keeping;

we have you in our hearts.

Your memory is our keepsake,

with that we’ll never part.

God saw you getting tired

and a cure was not to be.

He put His arms around you

and whispered, ‘Come with Me.”

With tearful eyes we watched you

and saw you fade away.

Although we loved you dearly,

we could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

hard working hands now rest.

Our hearts have been broken,

but we know, God knows best!
