Reflection
The parables of Jesus will enlighten us if we approach them with an open mind and heart, ready to let them challenge us. If we approach them with the conviction that we already know the answer, then we, too, may
look but not see, listen but not understand. God's word can only take root in a receptive heart that is ready to believe and willing to submit. Do you submit to God's word with trust and obedience?
"Lord Jesus, faith in your word is the way to wisdom, and to ponder your divine plan is to grow in the truth. Open my eyes to your deeds, and my ears to the sound of your call, that I may understand your will for my life and live according to it"

DINING SET DONATION
Fortune and a benevolent benefactor smiled down on the good Fathers here at Sacred Heart. Their dining room set at “the house” was in dire need of replace-ment. Lo and behold a generous and anonymous donor provided a new and beautiful dining room set for our priests at the rectory. Now they can relax in comfort as they enjoy their meals, morning coffee and tea for many years to come.
A heartfelt thank you & blessings to our gifting angel.

NATIONAL GIVE SOMETHING AWAY DAY—JULY 15th—Giving benefits us all, too. It improves our
community and puts much-needed services and assistance within the reach of
those who need it most. The giver also benefits. Giving not only makes us feel
good but it teaches gratitude, too. Whether we give financially or by offering
our skills and services, we lift others up. Our words can be a gift, too. Showing
empathy, encouragement, and compassion to someone during a time of need
may make us feel vulnerable, but it empowers those we offer it to as well.
Clean out your closet or garage and make a donation—Donate to the local
food pantry or little library - Volunteer your time or skills— Teaching someone gives them the opportunity to pay it
forward.—Start a fundraiser for your favorite charity—Help a neighbor in a time of need.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Feast Day July 16th
Is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary in her role as patroness of the Carmelite Order. The first Carmelites were Christian hermits living on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land during the late 12th and early to mid-13th cen-tury. They built in the midst of their hermitages a chapel which they dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, whom they conceived of in chivalric terms as the "Lady of the place." Our Lady of Mount Carmel was adopted in the 19th centu-ry as the patron saint of Chile, in South America.
Since the 15th century, popular devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel has cen-tered on the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Car-mel, also known as the Brown Scapular. Traditionally, Mary is said to have given the Scapular to an early Carmelite named Saint Simon Stock (1165-1265). The liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is celebrated on 16 July.
The solemn liturgical feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was prob-ably first celebrated in England in the later part
of the 14th century. Its object was thanksgiving to Mary, the patroness of the Carmelite Order, for the benefits she had accorded to it through its difficult early years. The institution of the feast may have come in the wake of the vindication of their title "Brothers of the Blessed Virgin Mary" at Cambridge, England, in 1374. The date chosen was 17 July; on the European mainland this date conflicted with the feast of St. Alexis, requiring a shift to 16 July, which remains the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel throughout the Catholic Church. The Latin poem "Flos Carmeli" (meaning "Flower of Carmel") first appears as the sequence for this Mass.
