Nanotoxikologie)inSiegenabdecken.

Based on a first university degree, the Master's degree leads to the acquisition ofanalytical and methodological competences in the field of nanoscience andnanotechnology. The graduates of the course have acquired in-depth knowledge andskillsinthefieldofphysical, chemicalandtechnologicalsubdivisionsofthenanoscience. They are therefore able to successfully deal with the interdisciplinary issues ofnanoscienceandnanotechnology. The graduates of the course are prepared for university and non-university basicresearchinthefieldofnanoscience.Inparticular, duetotheinterdisciplinarycharacterofthecourse, theyareabletoperformresearchattherelevantinterfacesoftheclassicalfields of physics, chemistry and engineering sciences. They are qualified for a PhDprograminphysics, chemistryorelectricalengineering.Thegraduatestudentsacquirebasicknowledge inseveralaspectsof themodernnanosciences, whichenablethemtoworksuccessfullyinindustrialandservicecompanies. The study program is designed to bridge the departments of physics, chemistry andengineering to cover the entire width of nanoscience and nanotechnologywithin theMINT subjects. The course is international as it is held in English and it aims forcompetitiveinternationalresearch. In terms of content, four-semester training is offered in the essential aspects ofnanosciences:Inthe1stsemestertherearethreedifferententrytrainings,dependingonthestudents'previous knowledge. In this way, the students acquire the fundamentals of therespectiveotherdisciplinesinthenanosciences.Inthefirstsemester,aseminarwillbeheldinthefieldofnanoscienceresearchandalsoonimportantglobalaspectssuchasasafehandlingofnanotechnology("nanosafety").In the 2nd semester, there will be compulsory courses in nanochemistry, photonicdevices and nanoelectronic devices. Two internships are planned: "Micro andNanotechnology"and"NanosynthesisandNanoanalytics",whichcovertheexperimentalmethodsofnanoscience(includingnanotoxicology)inSiegen. In the 3rd semester, students have the opportunity to choose from a wide list ofcompulsoryelectivecourses, whilea research internship isalsobeingheld toprepareforthemasterthesisintheworkinggroups.Inthe4thsemester,themaster'sthesisispreparedwithintheresearchgroups.
