Some highlights: The European Commission has put forward a new, simpler definition of corporate social responsibility as “the responsibility of enterprises for their impacts on society”. The Commission then goes on to define, in generic terms, what an enterprise should do to meet that responsibility.

On "Improving company disclosure of social and environmental information" (page 12 under 4.5), it is noted that "There are a number of international frameworks for the disclosure of social and environmental information, including the Global Reporting Initiative. Integrated financial and non-financial reporting represents an important goal for the medium and long term, and the Commission follows with interest the work of the International Integrated Reporting Committee".

ASRA 2010 In order to ensure a level playing field, as announced in the Single Market Act the Commission will present a legislative proposal on the transparency of the social and environmental information provided by companies in all sectors. An impact assessment of possible options for this proposal, which will also include a competitiveness proofing and SME test, is currently ongoing.

GRI ist DER Standard: 29 von 47 Einreichungen (61 %) wenden GRI an! (in 2009 92%), allerdings ist das Anwendungsniveau manchmal unklar.

18 Berichte (38% in 2009 und 2010) extern geprüft, davon 78 (86) % von Umweltgutachtern, 22 (14) % von WPs.

28 Unternehmen (60 %) haben zumindest teilweise EMAS/ISO 14001 (in 2009 nur 32% durch die vielen Micros).

Die Berichte werden immer besser. Die guten großen Unternehmen sind ganz nah beieinander und quantitativ über das EVANAB Evaluierungstool (http://www.indoek.noe-lak.at/evanab/) kaum mehr zu unterscheiden. Sieger nach Noten und Ranking ist trotzdem unser KMU Sieger!

Allgemeine Anmerkungen aus der Jurysitzung

•  Es gibt Berichte, die sich auf GRI beziehen, aber Anwendungsniveau nicht deklarieren

•  Deklariertes GRI Anwendungsniveau aus den Berichten nicht immer nachvollziehbar, Index häufig zu stark aggregiert, zuviel Information ins Netz ausgelagert

•  Ziele und Nachhaltigkeitsprogramm nicht immer vorhanden

Allgemeine Anmerkungen aus der Jurysitzung

•  GRI Kapitel 1 Wesentliche Nachhaltigkeits-Aspekte und Strategie entspricht eigentlich der IIRC Forderung nach einer übersichtlichen Darstellung der wesentlichen Themen, KPIs und Strategie, wird aber häufig so nicht dargestellt.

•  GRI 3.1. fordert Desaggregation nach Segmenten, Ländern, Standorten, Gender, etc. wurde aber in den Berichten (noch) nicht angewendet.
