    Bei diesem Aufgabentyp werden verschiedene Antwortmöglichkeiten angeboten. Setze bei diesen Aufgaben ein Häkchen in das Kästchen, das vor der richtigen Antwort steht. Es ist immer nur eine der Antwortmöglichkeiten richtig.

    Summer Solstice1 at Stonehenge (Around June 20/21) The ancient monument of Stonehenge in the United Kingdom is part of the human cultural heritage. It's controlled by English Heritage, who for most of the year keep people away from the stones. You can "look but not touch" from a distance, getting to know the stones from "interpretive displays" in the visitors' centre rather than by approaching the stones themselves.

    But once a year something magic happens. Since 2000, English Heritage has allowed people to visit the stones overnight at the summer solstice. You can't take tents or even sleeping bags (but picnic mats and blankets are OK), and you can't climb on the stones (but a blind eye is generally turned to hugging them). Drums will be beating in the background, rising to a crescendo at dawn.

    Ireland is indeed famous for many things; its green countryside, its windswept cliffs and its rain. However, in terms of its culture, Ireland is well known for its music. Villagers used to spend the cold winter evenings together in the pubs, and everyone brought their instruments. People had large families so they taught their children different instruments - the flute, the fiddle (or violin), the bodhran (drum), the harp, and pipes. Then each family had its own band. Different families played and sang each evening in the pub. Other people in the village danced. In Irish dancing people keep their arms still and only use their legs. This is because there was no room to move when the whole village was in the pub with them! Because the evenings were long and dark, people spent several hours in the pubs, so they did not make songs with a start and middle and finish. They played 'sessions'. "The VIEW is designed with respect for the sacred setting in which it is located. ʽGreen’ building standards and environmentally friendly operating procedures will be a hallmark of the VIEW Hotel, Restaurant and Trading Post. This is a decision that has guided every phase of design and construction and we are excited about opening our eco-friendly hotel in December to visitors from around the world," says hotel owner Armanda Ortega.

    4. Like every guestroom in the VIEW, the restaurant will have a spectacular panoramic view of Monument Valley and, like the hotel, it will have high environmentally friendly standards. The menu will include eco-friendly groceries that have been grown without the application of pesticides or fertilizers, and locally grown products will be used whenever possible.

Navajo Nation Tribal Council Member and Chairman of the Natural Resources Committee, George Arthur, says: "The location for the hotel was selected because it is adjacent to the park visitors center which has served tourists in the Tribal Park for over 50 years. Every effort has been taken to make the hotel blend into the landscape of the red rock mesa so the visitor to Monument Valley will enjoy the view from the hotel as well as the view of the hotel from the valley floor."

    3. The staff will incorporate green practices in the operation of the hotel. The housekeeping staff will utilize low-water, computer-controlled washers, green laundry detergent, and biodegradable cleaning materials. All guestrooms and public areas will be guaranteed safe from the pollution of smoking. The smoke-free areas are all inside the facility. Landscaping surrounding the hotel is Xeriscape using low water consumption native plantings.

    LONDON (Sept. 24) – An amateur treasure hunter prowling English farmland with a metal detector stumbled upon the largest Anglo-Saxon treasure ever discovered. "This is just a fantastic find completely out of the blue," Roger Bland, who managed the cache's excavation, told The Associated Press. "It will make us rethink the Dark Ages." Leslie Webster, the former curator of Anglo-Saxon archaeology at the British Museum, said the amount of gold uncovered suggested that early medieval England was a far wealthier place than previously believed. The seventh-century hoard, found by 55-year-old Terry Herbert in western England, consists of about 1,500 pieces of gold and silver, mostly weapons and other military artifacts, some inlaid with precious stones. Experts say the finely crafted pieces could have belonged to Anglo-Saxon royalty. The hoard was officially declared treasure by a coroner, which means it will now be valued by a committee of experts and offered up for sale to a museum. The hoard is in storage at the Birmingham Museum. Some of the items are due to go on display starting Friday. "The quantity of gold is amazing but, more importantly, the craftsmanship is consummate," said archaeologist Kevin Leahy, who catalogued the find.
