b e f o r e t h e l a wInterpretation of the short story Before The Law by Franz Kafka into a comic.The hard black and white imagery underlines the grim atmosphere of the tale, while the simulation of an expressionistic woodcut tries to give it a historical classification. The imitation of the woodcut was done in Photoshop, where I

laid black boxes over my sketches and manually „carved“ out the white gaps, to give me the closest experience to doing an actual woodcut.

1 0 5 – t h e u P P e r b e r t hInterpretation of the short story The Upper Berth by Francis Marion Crawford into a motion comic.Three people created a motion comic of approximately eleven minutes. I did the character design, line art, coloured the people and added atmosphere (mist, spray, sun, smoke...). Denise Herkrath coloured the backgrounds, Anna Münch

did the motion and audio in Final Cut.

2 i l l u s t r at i o nc a o i lt e c o s f h a D aIllustration and craft of a storybook of the Irish fairy tale Caoilte Cosfhada by Douglas Hyde.To underline the long, quiet character of the story and characterize the wide Irish countryside an extreme horizontal format was used. The illustrations are done in watercolour and pencil. The handcrafted book got a leathery look with

bronze letters to imitate an old traditional storybook. In the following only my illustrations of the two people group work are shown.

f e e l G o o DSong text illustration of the song Feel Good by Gorillaz.The song consists of two quite dark and gloomy verses, whereas the chorus is more cheerful and has more positive lyrics. I took the lyrics literally („The city‘s breaking down...“) and broke the city apart, while the hope bringing windmill rises out

of the destruction. The illustration consists of several layers, the whole song text is integrated (on signs, billboards, flags etc.).

I bought the gilthead, cooked it, ate it and made the illustrations in the meantime.I used coloured pencils for the illustrations and garlic, lemon, salt and lots of rosemary for the

gilthead. It was delicious.

Once you remove the bag you will see an x-ray picture of what might be in it. This work was done during my internship at buenasoma design and my job was to create the illustration of the

x-ray pictures.

The person concerned undergoes six different stages of her addiction, which brings her pleasure at first but makes her stumble and fall in the end. The change of her body and expression symbolize her psychological

Since this portfolio is written in the English language some explanation about my synonym “KrausKopf” is in order. The literal translation is “FrizzHead”. Curls and frizzes greatly represent my frizzy thoughts and curly head. But of course there is more to the design of my logo than just my looks. It also combines my passion for Illustration

with Graphic Design. I transformed hand drawn lines into a more solid form, which gave them a clearer graphical aspect. My own handwriting as font gave it back its illustrational character. The unique font and unusual form make it exciting, let it stand out and give room for imagination and all different kinds of expectation.

I would like to specialize in Illustration and Graphic Design and am always eager to learn and try out new things.
