The Environment, Planning, Agriculture and Fisheries Department of the Basque Government, organizes the 4th Wine & Gourmet Food Exhibition as a part of a complete calendar of activities directed to promoting our Food and Wines in other markets.
The aim of these campaigns is to promote this sector by focusing on the presence of our products in the international markets, increasing visibility, knowledge and positioning in these countries, working together for seeking the relationship of our companies with the market operators and the mass media.
This activity is targeted on the wine and gourmet food sector companies

This exhibition aims to promote and achieve a greater competitiveness of the Basque Food Industry in the international market.
We want to carry on supporting the activities needed to promote the Basque Food Industry since we estimate that these are absolutely essential in the current economic climate.

In 1974 some of the largest fishermen of elver of the Basque Country got together to jointly commercialize elvers. However, given the progressive scarcity of elvers, in the mid 1980’s Angulas Aguinaga started developing a substitute for this product based on surimi. That is how in 1992 “La Gula del Norte” was born, offering consumers a unique alternative while leading a whole new category of products. Given the success of this product, the Krissia range was launched in 2001. These crab fingers –a high quality and healthy product –, are perfect to enhance any dish adding a distinctive sea flavor. In 2007, in order to continue offering consumers best quality sea products, Angulas Aguinaga built new premises in Burgos in order to boil octopus, king shrimps, mussels, etc. These strategic steps have led Angulas Aguinaga to stimulate and reactivate the fishmonger section of many large supermarket chains. Until recently exports of Angulas Aguinaga have been exported to countries close to Spain. However, it aims at becoming an international reference for the fish-sector (as it already is in Spain), adapting its products to the tastes and gastronomic culture of each country.

Itsasmendi winery was founded in 1995 in Muskiz, a town in former centuries reckoned for its rich Txakoli white wine-producing tradition. In 2002, due to the gradual increase of the vineyards, the winery moved to Gernika, a privileged spot sited in the Urdaibai Reserve of the Biosphere. Itsasmendi winery owns 30 Ha. of vineyards that were gradually planted from 1989 to 2011 in mountainous hills next to the sea. Our project lays on two basic concepts, the demanding land selection and the exhaustive work on the recuperation of the “Hondarribi-Zuri” autochthonous variety.
The vineyards are orientated towards the midday sun and their maintenance is carried out according to the integrated-production management practices. These allow obtaining first-quality grapes while respecting the environment.

Our winery is located in Laguardia, at the foot of the Cantabrian Mountains. Founded in the year 2000 as the result of the work fo Goyo L. Landaluce and a team of associates, and together we put all our knowledge and experience into the wines from generation to generation. The secret lies in the know-how of our team and, of course, the raw materials we employ. We have 30 hectares of vines, mainly tempranillo, at San Gregorio, Carravalseca, San Cristobal and La Gloria, all part of the Laguardia district and at the centre of the cantabrian mountain micro-climate in the Rioja Alavesa sub-zone.
15 hectares of this vine area are over 40 years old, alongside other vines which are over 80, the remainnig 15 hectares contain vineyards of average age between 20 and 40 years old. Another vital factor in our success is exclusive use of french oak cask for the crianza wines.

Centenary Bodega located at the intersection of six DOC Rioja roads. The oldest document dated in 1583, when the King of Spain, Philippe II, brought wine to his troops. We’re located in the coastal town of Bakio, a locality considered as the birthplace of txakolina wine in Bizkaia.

Founded in Spring 2012, the Bodega Hiruzta winery is much more than just a new business project; Hiruzta has revived the centuries-old tradition of txakoli production in the place that is home to the hondarrabi zuri and beltz indigenous vine varieties: Hondarribia.
