The intent was to trace both the specific lines of descent from this union to Daniel and Beatrix respectively; and also the von Sachsen family ancestry of Liudolf and Oda themselves. Given the extent of near-incestuous kinship relations that define that ancestry, it is a wonder that the Piper/Downs family are not all imbeciles by now. 1The variety, multiplicity, and interconnectedness, and above all the plethora of free-for-all battles for titles, territories and taxes that characterize Adelaide del Vasto’s family genealogy reflect the confusion, instability and disarray of political alliances in Early Medieval Europe. A small selection, culled from the vast number of her ancestors’ international conjugal alliances, are represented more fully in Daniel Ashby Piper Family. Feudal titles and fiefdoms during the Early Medieval period numbered in the thousands. 2I could find no independent confirmation for the Family Central Network report that Henry VII Tudor fathered Margaret Neville 1466-1527/33, and descriptions of his marital fidelity count against it. The de Neville lineage is represented more fully in Beatrix Downs Piper McCleary Family. 3Adryan Alids de Weyden Pratt (1511-1572) had to be the “family namesake” my father invoked to answer my adolescent objection to my “boy’s name.” I’ve found no other Adrians in any of my grandparents’ genealogies. 4Predictably, I could find no historical records confirming the birth or birth location of Philip Piper 1805-1879. In Daniel Ashby Piper Family, I situate him according to kinship names, dates and relationship patterns.
