. . . . umünster Donation for children whose parents have separated NEUMÜNSTER When pa- rents decide to separate, this is a difficult situation, not just for the ex-partner, but also for the children. If the parents were completely di- vided, or perhaps there was violence against the partner or the child involved, this complicates everything. But each parent has the right to see their child, and the other way around. For 25 years, the Kinderschutz- bund has helped children, mothers or fathers to see each other with its project “Begleiteter Umgang” (accompanied contact, BU) – in a safe space, accompa- nied by trained volunteers, with full-time workers in the background. “All ten permanent employees have completed a qualification, and have further training. An average of 20 families per year are accompanied, with 40 children. Accom- paniment lasts for around a year”, says the head of BU, Cordula Stolzenhain. There are also five employees for special cases, such as an employee with knowledge of foreign languages or for the subject of violence. “You can’t look away when this subject arises, because there is a need there. And this is precisely what we want to support – a regional project where those in need of protection are supported by us”, said Aline Steiner yesterday, responsible for marketing and communica- tion at the Markert Group on Oderstraße. They handed over a symbolic cheque of over 4000 Euro – an amount which came about due to employees doing without Christmas gifts. “The money will be spent in building an opening from the BU room to our offices.
