Every month, come and experience the Roman Tour, where you can enjoy thematic evenings, Roman parade, gladiator fights and attractive dance performances. Diocletian’s Legion will once again revive the ancinet past, while the Live Museum project at the Cornaro Walls will return us to the Old Roman way of living.

Um all unseren Gästen die römischen Antike zu veranschaulichen, organisiert die Stadt Split auf dem Kaiserplatz „Peristil“ den ganzen Sommer über täglich zu Mittag die Wachablöse und den Gruß des Kaisers und der Kaiserin. Nehmen Sie einmal monatlich am Römerleben teil, es erwarten Sie Themenabende, der römische Triumphzug, Gladiatorenkämpfe, attraktive Tanzauftritte. Durch das Projekt Lebendiges Museum lässt die Diokletianslegion auch dieses Jahr die antike Vergangenheit auf der Bastei Cornaro wieder aufleben und bringt uns den Alltag der alten Römer näher.

You will read in every guide-book that Split is a city that arose from the palace of the Ro-man emperor Diocletian, one of the best preserved and impres-sive buildings from the Roman period in Europe. You will also read that the historical city nu-cleus has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1979. How to get to know the city in one day? A difficult task.Walk westward along the Wa-terfront, passing by numerous coffee shops and shops and en-joy the view of the Palace south-ern façade.You will then come to the city squares such as Fruit Square and People’s Square and fur-ther on towards the northern wall of the Palace, the best pre-

served one. Do not miss “your luck” and touch the toe of the grandiose statue of Grgur Nins-ki (Gregory of Nin), work of the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović. The Golden Gate will appear before you. Go through the gate and into the Palace and visit the an-tique and medieval streets and squares, go along the narrow-est street in the city called “Let me pass” just next to Jupiter’s temple. "Lose your way" in the labyrinth of the once emper-or’s quarters and let your way take you through the Vestibule to reach the central imperial square called Peristyle. ••• In jedem Reiseführer steht, dass Split eine Stadt ist, die aus dem

Palast des Kaisers Diokletia-nus entstanden ist, der eines der am besten erhaltenen und eindrucksvollsten Bauwerke aus der Römerzeit in Europa ist. Pour honey and olive oil into a glass jar and add vitamin e. Mix well together un-til the mixture becomes smooth. Spread the mixture equally on your hair with a brush paying particular attention to the damaged ends.Cover the hair with a shower cap or plas-tic folio so that the heat contributes to better absorption of the useful ingredi-ents. Leave for 90 minutes and then wash with warm water and wash your hair in the usual manner.

The most beautiful description of the legendary sunset in Za-dar was given by the famous di-rector Alfred Hitchcock during his visit to Zadar in May, 1964. In observing the sunset from the window of Room 204 of Ho-tel Zagreb at that time, he wrote down the following: “The sun-set in Zadar is the most beauti-ful in the world and incompara-bly more beautiful than the one of Key West in Florida.”

The founder of the forum was the first Roman Emperor Au-gustus, the fact known from the two inscriptions in stone from the 3rd century when the con-struction was completed. Only the original sidewalk and steps as well as two decorative monu-mental pillars, one of which is at its original location, have been preserved to this day. It used to function as a pillar of shame.

Originally dedicated to the Holy Trinity, in the 15th century it was named after Bishop Dona-tus from Zadar who had started the building of the church. Its unusual cylindrical shape with double interior space express-es its uniqueness and it is con-nected in shape to the baptis-tery of Charles the Great or the Church of St. Vitale in Ravenna. It is the pride and symbol of Za-dar holding the remains of the Roman Forum in its founda-tions and grandiose consider-ing the time it was built.

Die beste Beschreibung des legendären Sonnenunter-gangs in Zadar hinterließ uns der bekannte Regisseur Alfred Hitchcock bei seinem Besuch in Zadar im Mai 1964. Den Son-nenuntergang vom Fenster des Zimmers Nr. 204 im damali-gen Hotel Zagreb betrachtend, schrieb er: „Zadar hat den welt-weit schönsten Sonnenunter-gang. Er ist sogar schöner als der in Key West in Florida.“

Der Begründer des Forums war der erste römische Kaiser Au-gustus. Davon zeugen zwei in Stein gemeißelte Inschriften aus dem 3. Jh., als der Bau been-det war. Heute sind nur der ur-sprüngliche Pflasterstein und eine Treppe sowie zwei monu-mentale Ziersäulen erhalten. Eine davon diente als Pranger, wovon die damaligen Ketten zeugen.

Die ursprüngliche Dreifaltig-keitskirche wurde im 15. Jh. nach ihrem Erbauer, dem Bischof von Zadar, Donat, um-benannt. Deren ungewöhnliche zylindrische Bauform mit den doppelten Innenraum ist ein Ausdruck ihre Einzigartigkeit und Ähnlichkeit mit dem Bap-tisterium Karls des Großen oder der Kirche San Vitale in Raven-na. Sie ist der Stolz und ein Sym-bol der Stadt Zadar, die in ihren Fundamenten die Überreste des Forum Romanum birgt.

Sie können auch auf den berg Srđ steigen und von hier aus den blick auf die histo-rische Stadt genießen.

There is also the Marko Polo fest, an international song and wine festival that begins on 20 July. Make sure you don’t miss the festival of knights’ Games on korčula or the Midsum-mer Scene, an English theatre festival dedicated to William Shakespeare which takes place in the amazing fort Lovrjenac.

Der Nationaln-park Mljet ist der älteste dieser Art an der Mittelmeerküste. Der Naturpark lastovo wurde nach der größten Insel des Ar-chipels benannt, der aus 46 größeren und kleineren Inseln und Riffen besteht. In der Nähe von Dubrovnik lie-gen die Eliphaten, bestehend aus 8 größeren und 5 klei-neren Inseln, von denen nur 3 bewohnt sind. WEINE DER GESPANScHAFT DubROVNIK-NERETVAAußer für ihre atemberaubende Natur ist diese Region auch für ihre erstklassigen Weine bekannt. Hier werden einige au-tochthone Traubensorten ange-baut. Zu den bekanntesten ge-hört die Sorte „Plavac mali“, die bekannteste kroatische Trauben-sorte für Rotwein. und genau hier wird die größte Menge davon an-gebaut, vor allem auf der Halbin-sel Pelješac. Zu den bekanntesten Weinen von Pelješac gehören der Dingač und der Postup, die Sie bei einem der vielen Win-zer verkosten können. Im un-terschied zur Halbinsel Pelješac, die für ihre Rotweine bekannt ist, ist Korčula die Wiege der Weißwe-ine Pošip, Rukatac und Grk. Sie sollten unbedingt auch die We-ine der Weingebiete Konavle und Neretva verkosten.

Due to its pleasant odour and curative properties, the Romans used it for their baths while the Greeks used it mostly for medical proposes. Its effectiveness in vari-ous difficulties is widely known and there is almost no home whose wardrobe is not protected by a small bag of lavender flower. It is a traditional medicine for the paci-fication and alleviation of insomnia and headaches, anxiety, depression, tension and stress.

1 Mix a few drops

of etheric lavender oil with olive oil which is an excellent combination for nurturing the body, hair and face, particularly after sunbathing.

2 Add a few drops

of etheric lavender oil to neutral oil (ses-ame oil), spread it over your temples and the back part of your neck to remove headaches and tension.

3 Pour one litre

of boiling water over four spoons of dry lavender flowers. Let it stay for five min-utes. Filter the tea and add a pinch of cin-namon and drink it throughout the day – it will save you from insomnia.

4 Insect stings:

place a drop or two of etheric oil directly over the sting.

5When tired

pour apple vinegar over two handfuls of lavender flowers and leave it under the sun. Filter after two weeks. It is used by taking deep breaths over it.

1Mischen Sie einige Tropfen

2 Geben Sie einige Tropfen

ätherischen Lavendelöls in ein neutrales Öl (Sesamöl) und reiben Sie damit Gelenke und den Nacken ein. Das Hilft gegen Kopf-schmerzen und Verspannungen.

3 Übergießen Sie 4 EL getrockneter Lavendelblüten

mit 1 Liter siedendem Wasser. Lassen Sie den Tee 5 Minuten ziehen. Danach absei-hen und mit einer Prise Zimt den Tag über trinken. Das rettet Sie bei Schlaflosigkeit.

4 Insektenstiche – 1-2 Tropfen ätherisches

Lavendelöl direkt auf die Einstichstelle auftragen.

5Gießen Sie gegen

Müdigkeit Apfelessig über 2 Handvoll Lav-endelblüten. Lassen Sie diese Mischung 2 Wochen in einem Glasgefäß in der Sonne stehen und seihen Sie sie nach 2 Wochen ab. Inhalieren Sie damit.
