Modern Germany identification:

Edenkoben, Landkreis Südliche Weinstrasse, State of Rheinland-Pfalz, Bundesrepublik Deutschland

(or Edenkoben, Südliche Weinstrasse, Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland)

Postal Code: 67480 Edenkoben

A large number of Germans emigrated from the village of Edenkoben in the modern-day Rheinland-Pfalz to the American Colonies in the mid-Eighteenth Century. Most of the emigrants have been identified in previously published resources; however, no comprehensive account of their German origins and Colonial destinations is available. This work is an effort to synthesize known information as well as new findings.

I am not a professional researcher; however, I have 20 years of experience working diligently with Colonial Pennsylvania records. My passion is piecing together early settlers, documenting their origin, settlement, and (if) subsequent migration. My primary area of focus is South Central Pennsylvania (viz., Franklin, Adams, York, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster, and Berks counties).

I have not had opportunity to examine the original Edenkoben church books, which may identify other emigrants to the Middle Colonies. My work on the European side is rather primitive—relying primarily on abstracts available via Familysearch.org. The actual church records should provide more information than the abstracts placed online—including actual village of residence (some may have resided in satellite towns of Edenkoben) and places of birth of the parents.

Using transcribed records available via familysearch.org databases as well as my own knowledge of Colonial records, I have attempted to document emigrants from Edenkoben on both sides of the Atlantic.

Please consider my work as a guideline for further research and verification—not as a professional publication. Original records should be consulted.

Edenkoben Church Records

The LDS database "Deutschland, Geburten und Taufen 1558-1898" has abstracts of the Edenkoben Lutheran and Reformed church records. The abstracts include baptisms, marriages, and burials; however, the records are not complete. For example: The names of the parents are not included in the Edenkoben Reformed marriage abstracts. Also, other records, such as confirmands and burials, are available but were not abstracted by volunteers.

Abstracts from the following films were used to compile the information in this document:

FHC Film 193822 & 192823: Edenkoben Reformed KB abstracts.FHC Film 193824 & 193825: Edenkoben Lutheran KB abstracts. FHC Film 68853: Alternate abstracts of Edenkoben Reformed KB.Neighboring town: Knöringen. See Film 488530.

Sources of Emigrants

There are several published compilations of Eighteenth Century emigrants from Edenkoben.

Note: I found Catharina Gleich neither in church abstracts nor in the Hacker index.

Mr. Kuby identified 18 emigrants on the 1752 Snow Ketty that originated in Edenkoben (another 8 were from nearby towns). While I have not been able to access the original article, a listing of passengers on the Snow Ketty from Edenkoben appeared on the Palatine Project, formerly published on the ProGenealogists’ website (affiliated with Ancestry.com). On that site, Mr. Kuby’s article was identified as the source of information.

Those identified as Edenkoben passengers are as follows:

The Research of Professor Werner Hacker

Professor Werner Hacker published more than 10 books documenting emigrants from Germany to other lands. An index of the collected emigrants was published by Closson Press in 1994:

Hacker, Werner. Eighteenth Century Register of Emigrants from Southwest Germany (to America and other countries). Closson Press, 1994.

The emigrants from Edenkoben also appear in Professor Hacker’s book Auswanderungen aus Rheinfalz und Saarland im 18.Jahrhundert (Stuttgart: Theiss, 1987). This more comprehensive work includes more detailed synopses of information located in the emigration files.

Listed below—in order of emigration year (or estimated year)--are all listings found connected to the village of Edenkoben:

EMIGRANTS FROM EDENKOBEN TO COLONIAL AMERICA

I have compiled information on all known emigrants from Edenkoben to Colonial America. Please understand that the Colonial records searches are not complete—I only included enough data to document residency.

Please understand that this is a work in progress. I welcome any additional information. For convenience, I have grouped the analyses of emigrants of the same surname (even if they departed in different years).

Please click on the hyperlink for quick access to the records compiled for that emigrant.

Johann Georg Franck

Martin Grün of Edenkoben married Maria Ursula Franck, the widow of Christoph Franck, in 1737. In 1752, Martin Grün and his stepdaughters (the children of Christoph Franck) filed for manumission. In the application, it was noted that Christoph’s brother George Franck had been living in Pennsylvania for 20 years.

GERMAN RECORDS:

Edenkoben Reformed KB:

Jacob Franck (or Francken) & his wife Maria Clara had baptized:1. Anna Catharina, baptized 22 Nov 16902. Christoffel, baptized 14 June 16993. Philipp Jacob, baptized 17 May 1702

--Note: I tried various searches to find other children in the online records without success. The Christoffel above is the father of the three sisters who filed for manumission in 1752.

For consideration:

Peter Franck & his wife Maria Elisabeth had baptized:1. Hans Georg, baptized 10 Nov 1715

Johann Georg Franck married 2 Sep 1739 Maria Catharina Heylmanns

(Neither of these Georg Franck’s fit the profile of the emigrant, who allegedly had resided in Pennsylvania for 20 years by 1752. It is likely that emigrant Georg Franck was a son of Jacob Franck and his wife Maria Clara.)

Nicholas Treber

Nicholas Treber resided in Edenkoben from about 1717 to 1722, when he moved to the nearby village of Albersweiler. The evidence below is circumstantial and descendants should seek further verficiation that the Nicholas Treber of Edenkoben & Albersweiler is the same person who settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

David Delater

This surname appears to be an evolution of De Latre or De Lattre. Descendents believe that the family may have originated in Iggelheim, which sits 22 kilometers from Edenkoben.

GERMAN RECORDS:

Edenkoben Lutheran KB:

--Note: Anna Elisabeth Seyfert, daughter of Gottfried Seyfert, married David Delater and left for America, according to German emigration records (see Hacker below). I could not locate any other children in the online Edenkoben abstracts baptized to this couple.

Iggelheim KB:

David Delatre, son of David Delatre, married 27 Sep 1718 at Iggelheim Anna Elisabetha Geringer, daughter of Jacob Geringer.

--Important: It is uncertain as to whether this is the same couple or two different couples. Delater family researchers are divided as to whether the David Delater who married Anna Elisabetha Geringer at Iggelheim in 1718 is the same David Delater who married Anna Elisabetha Seyfert of Edenkoben.

MARYLAND AND VIRGINIA RECORDS:

The Delater family has a number of dedicated family genealogists. I recommend reading the message board posts written by Richard A. DeLaughter, descendent of the David Delater who died in Maryland. Most of the information below was taken from his well documented research.

There is confusion in regards to this immigrant family. It would seem that there is no doubt that the 1741 immigrant settled in Frederick County, Maryland; however, the children named in his last will &

testament do not perfectly correspond with other known children. Additional European research may be needed to resolve some of questions connected with this family. (Note: My interpretation of the will would be that the older children had already received their inheritances and perhaps had migrated elsewhere. The three children who received the bulk of the estate were likely the children of his last wife Barbara—see her burial record below.)

Hans Georg WackPhilipp Jacob Wack

Please see the letter at the end of this section written by German researcher Alfred Hans Kuby. Without Mr. Kuby’s work on the European side, not enough evidence would exist to document that Philipp Jacob Wack and his wife Anna Eva Elisabeth emigrated from Germany.

Still—I do find some problems connecting this family on both sides of the Atlantic. Please note my comments under “Immigration.”

GERMAN RECORDS:

Edenkoben Reformed KB:

Gerhard (or Erhardus) Wack (or Wacken) married 3 Sep 1699 Maria Barbara Voelckerss. They had baptized:

Johann Christoph Jentzer & his wife Anna Margaretha had baptized:1. Anna Elisabetha, born 16 Sep 1714, baptized 21 Sep 1714

Note: This is presumed to be the “Lisabett former Jenserin,” who sent greetings from Philadelphia to relations in Edenkoben in 1773.

Snow Ketty, qualified 16 Oct 1752 at Philadelphia:

Johan Henrich HeylPhilipps Jacob WackAndreas (X) MackJohann Towias Eebele

IMPORTANT: I have some uneasiness about Philipp Jacob Wack as an emigrant from Edenkoben aboard the 1752 Snow Ketty. In Pennsylvania German Pioneers, Professor William Hinke translated the above highlighted surname as Mack.

Professor Hacker’s index also cites the following:

Jakob Mack, wife and three children, Schriesheim, 1752, to America, IX1243Philipp Jakob Mack, Schriesheim, 1752, to America, IX1243AAndreas Mack, Schriesheim, 1752, to America, IX1243BPeter Mack, Schriesheim, 1752, to America, IX1244

According to German Settlers in Colonial South Carolina, Anna Catharina Mack, the widow of Jacob Mack of Schriesheim, emigrated with three children, including son Peter, in 1752. She settled in Granville County, South Carolina. This book provides no accounting for Andreas and Philipp Jacob Mack who filed for emigration the same year.

I recommend that persons descending from this family seek evidence confirming that passengers Philipp Jacob Mack (Hinke translation—Alfred Hans Kuby read Wack) and Andreas Mack are not from Schriesheim. It may be possible that all were aboard the Snow Ketty. The letter copied below from Alfred Hans Kuby indicates that the Anna Eva Elisabeth Wack—abandoned by her husband who had legal troubles—may have reunited with him and departed with the other Edenkoben emigrants in 1752. Mr. Kuby later found evidence of Anna Eva Elisabeth’s residence in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But perhaps Anna Eva Elisabeth and her children departed—but not her husband. Or perhaps he died during the passage.

Regardless, an Andreas Wack has not been found in Edenkoben records. It seems too coincidental that a Philipp Jacob Wack would be next to an Andreas Mack (who could not sign his name) in the same year that persons of this name filed for permission to emigrate from Schriesheim.

Further research is necessary.

The information below was written by family researcher Rebecca Welty Kaminsky on 8 July 1999. It is currently posted within the family tree “Myers Ancestors and Their Descendants” on Rootsweb. The Welty family has produced a number of genealogists well versed on the family origins. Based on my own brief investigations, I find Ms. Kaminsky’s arguments compelling.

“About 100 years ago - in the 1880's if my memory serves me correctly without consulting my notes - one of Johan Jacob's descendants wrote a letter to her cousin describing a very large, very

old German Bible that contained information about Johan Jacob's family, including the names and birth dates of all of his children. Unfortunately, this Bible disappeared some time after that, but the letters describing it have survived. Margaretha 's birth date as shown on the paper in the Daniel Sell Bible is identical to that shown in the Johan Jacob Welte Bible description. The letters say that the Bible was very deteriorated and that the writing was in German script and very difficult to read - completely unreadable in places - but that the children's birth dates were clear.

The Weldy family of Edenkoben, Germany, Chester and York Counties, Pennsylvania

The following is the result of discoveries by Gary Chronister and the amazing conclusions to which he has arrived. This may very well be the solution to the myth of the three Welty Brothers. I have included two manuscripts from Mr. Chronister. The first describes the investigation and resulting conclusions for identifying this family:

Their has been a long standing tradition that three Weldy (Welty) brothers immigrated to Pennsylvania from Germany or Switzerland in the mid 18th Century and eventually settled in and around York County, Pennsylvania. Some researchers have disregarded this story because of the common tradition amongst many families of the "three brothers". Fascinatingly enough, in the case of the Weldy family this tradition turns out to be true.

Let us first review what we already know about the York County Weldys through Pennsylvania records. We know from early York County tax lists that George Weldy was in Dover Township as early as 1762. Another, Phillip Weldy buys a tract of land adjacent to George in 1766 and shows up on the 1771 and 1772 tax lists. Beginning in 1774 and continuing through 1780, as well as George and Phillip, a Widow Weldy is also listed. Here we continue the possibility that there really were three brothers. We also know from York County church and cemetery records that George had a wife named Anna Maria and at least two sons, Jacob born about 1749 and Phillip Jacob born in 1759. These two seem to have lived and died in York County. Also from early records two other young Weldys appear during the late 1770's and early 1780's, a second Jacob and Michael. These were possibly the sons of one of the other brothers since George already had a son named Jacob. Also when this second Jacob sold Phillip's1766 farm in 1791, he was listed in the deed as the son of Phillip. This Jacob and Michael migrated west together and eventually parted ways in later life. Other early Weldys identified as sons of a Jacob Weldy and Christina Braff? from an old bible record were Johannes born in 1760 and settled in Adams County, Henrich born in 1764 and settled in Westmoreland County, and Frederick born in 1767 and settled in Washington County, Maryland.

In various lists of emigration from Germany to America the name of Jacob Weldy from Edenkoben in the Palatinate turns up in the manumission records. This Jacob Weldy arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the ship Snow Ketty in October of 1752, along with a Georg Weldy and many other immigrants from Edenkoben. These included, among others Jacob Schuster and Henrich Schenkel. Was this Jacob part of the family who settled in York County? Also a Phillip(Phipps) Weldy arrived in Philadelphia in 1750. After inspection of the Edenkoben Reformed church records it seemed that all the information found backed up what was known from American records.

A Georg Wolfgang Weldy married Anna Maria Keibel of Iggelsheim, near Edenkoben, in January of 1750. This couple had a son Johann Jacob baptized in June of that same year. Also mentioned in the baptism records from this time were Johann Jacob Weldy who married Anna

Page 52: Pennsylvania Settlers Emigrants...  · Web view146 ½ a. Manheim tp.: HISTORY: It being the same tract given in the preceding indenture. On 6 Feb 1768, the Court of Common Pleas

Catharina Croissant in 1738 and had four children baptized during the 1740's. Who were Jacob and George's parents? The marriage records of Edenkoben list Hans Jacob Weldy the son of Johann Georg Weldy married to Anna Catharina Durchdeibach from Neckargemund in 1709. This couple had five children baptized at Edenkoben in the next ten years. Johann Jacob in 1710, Johannes in 1713, Anna Barbara in 1715, Georg Wolfgang in 1716 and Phillip Jacob in 1719. So here we have the same names in German records as are found in the Pennsylvania records.

But how do we prove that these Weldys of Edenkoben are the same as the three Weldy families in York County.

The first clue came when a 1753 baptism of Maria Elisabeth Weldy a daughter of Georg and wife was found at the Brownback Reformed Church in Coventry Township, Chester County. In tax lists for East Nantmeal Township, Chester County we find a Jacob and a Phillip Felty listed as inmates beginning in 1759. Also in the same township we find George Croissant a brother of Jacob's wife, Jacob Schuster and Henrich Schenkel two Edenkoben immigrants who arrived with the Weldys in 1752, and also Jonas Ruthrauf of whoms family Michael Weldy married into later in York County. There was no doubt that we had the Edenkoben immigrants in Chester County. But can we make a connection to York County.

By the 1759 tax list of East Nantmeal Township, George was not listed indicating that he had moved away by that time. We know from church records that George was in Dover Township as early as 1755 and is the only Weldy listed in the 1762 tax lists. Phillip Felty continues in Chester County lists until 1765 and disappears beginning in 1766 the exact year he buys his property in Dover Township and first appears in the 1771 tax list. Jacob Felty continues in Chester County tax lists until 1773 and disappears in 1774 the exact year a widow Weldy appears in Dover Township. Based on these facts presented, I believe we have made a connection from Edenkoben, Germany to Chester County, Pennsylvania and on to York County, Pennsylvania. The eldest brother Jacob probably remarried in Pennsylvania after the death of his first wife, Anna Catharina Croissant and started a second family with Christina Braff, in 1757, until his death about 1773, in Chester County prompted Christina(widow) to move out to York County close Jacob's brothers George and Phillip. George (Georg Wolfgang) who seems to be the first in York County probably moved soon after his daughter Maria Elisabeth's baptism in 1753. The youngest brother Phillip (Phillip Jacob) moved to Dover Township about 1766 when he first purchased land.

I propose the following outline for the three Weldy brothers:

1) Johann Jacob Welde b. Dec. 14, 1710 Edenkoben, Germany d. ca.1773 Chester Co., Pennsylvania married secondly Maria Christina Braff? Mar. 18, 1757 children:

Anna Elisabeth b. Jan.25, 1758 Johannes b. Apr.21,1760 m. Catharina Weaver d. Dec. 20, 1837 Adams Co., PennsylvaniaChristina b. May 16, 1762 m. Peter Messerly Heinrich b. Nov. 4, 1764 m. Eva Catharina Steiner d. Jul 4, 1841 Westmoreland Co., PennsylvaniaLudwig Frederick b. Jun. 25, 1767 m. Catherine d. Sep 19, 1814 Washington Co., MarylandMargaret b. Mar. 2, 1769 ? m. Peter Rummel d. Dec. 31, 1852

2) Georg Wolfgang Welde b. 1716 Edenkoben, Germany d. ca.1780 York Co., Pennsylvania married Anna Maria Keibel Jan. 7, 1750 Edenkoben

Page 53: Pennsylvania Settlers Emigrants...  · Web view146 ½ a. Manheim tp.: HISTORY: It being the same tract given in the preceding indenture. On 6 Feb 1768, the Court of Common Pleas

children: Johann Jacob b. Jun 14 1750 m. Anna Maria Schramm d. Feb. 5, 1826 York Co., Pennsylvania Maria Elisabeth b. Nov. 1752 m. George Gauff George b. Dec 14 1755 Phillip Jacob b. Apr 16 1759 m. Anna Maria Wild d. May 13 1813 York Co., Pennsylvania Anna Maria b. Apr 16 1763 Anna Maria b. May 9, 1767

3) Phillip Jacob Welde b. May 7, 1719 Edenkoben, Germany d. ca.1789 York Co., Pennsylvania married Elisabeth ? ca.1754 children: Jacob b. ca.1755 m. Anna Maria Miller d. ? Jefferson Co., Ohio Michael b. ca.1757 m. Christina Ruthrauf d. 1815 Tuscarawas Co., Ohio Catharina b. ca.1760 m. Jacob Beam d. Richland Co., Ohio ?

The second describes the placement of the "three brothers": First of all I do and have always agreed with your thinking that the migrations of some of the Welty's were from the sons of the immigrants, not the immigrants themselves. Almost always, in family traditions that are passed along verbally, the generations get compressed. The tradition about Hagerstown, Maryland and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania seem to fit best with sons of Jacob and Maria Christina Braff. Johannes to Gettysburg and Frederick to Washington County, Maryland.

I just want to get into a little bit of the big question of placing sons to which brothers. I have always known and expected that the seven Welty boys that we are working with were probably cousins. The trick was to place these in the correct immigrant brother's household. A very big help came when you posted on your page the family of Jacob and Christina Braff. I had not known previously about the bible record that listed all of their children and dates of birth. So this record took care of Johannes, Henry and Frederick. This leaves just the two Jacobs, Michael and Phillip Jacob.

The younger of the Jacobs, born about 1755 was proven to be a son of Phillip through a York County deed in which the complete history of Phillip's farm in Dover Township from the original owner to the time of the deed was detailed. It mentioned that Phillip had purchased the farm in 1766 and sold it to his son Jacob who in turn sold it out of the family in 1791. We know this is not the older Jacob because the older Jacob was well established in Manchester Township years before this. I'll get you a copy of this deed at a later time. So Jacob the younger who married Anna Maria Miller is definitely a son of Phillip.

The older of the Jacobs who married Anna Maria Schramm and born ca.1749 from his cemetery stone fits only in the family of George, something of a process of elimination. I think we confirmed this when George and Anna Maria had a son Johann Jacob baptized at Edenkoben in 1750, just one year off from his cemetery stone.

This leaves of the boys Michael and Phillip Jacob. Michael moved to Somerset County, PA about 1786 along with the family of his brother in law Jacob Beam who married Catherine Welty on the same day as Jacob Welty the younger (son of Phillip) married Anna Maria Miller. After Jacob sold his father Phillip's farm in 1791, he shows up on Somerset County tax lists in 1793 next door to Michael Weldy and Jacob Beam. I believe this is two brothers and their sister Catherine. Michael and Jacob split ways about 1797 when Michael goes to Westmoreland County and Jacob Weldy and Jacob Beam go to Jefferson County, Ohio.

Page 54: Pennsylvania Settlers Emigrants...  · Web view146 ½ a. Manheim tp.: HISTORY: It being the same tract given in the preceding indenture. On 6 Feb 1768, the Court of Common Pleas

So now we're left with only Phillip Jacob who was born in 1759 from his cemetery stone in York County. We know from the bible record that he is not a son of Jacob and Christina Braff, but is his father George or Phillip? There are three reasons why I assign him to George's family. First of all, Jacob the older (son of George) and this Phillip Jacob were the only two to stay in York County. Secondly, Phillip Jacob is the sponsor at some of Jacob's children's baptisms and I believe vice-versa. Thirdly, this Phillip Jacob disappears from the Dover Township tax lists the same year as George, about 1781. Probably spent a few years in Manchester Township with his brother Jacob and Anna Maria Schramm. Phillip Jacob's father in law Paul Wild also lived in Manchester Township.

Even with all this there is still no absolute proof that he is the son of George, but in my opinion the circumstantial evidence is overwhelming.”

Krebs, Friederich. “18th Century Emigrants from Edenkoben in the Palatinate.” The Pennsylvania Dutchman, IV (January 1953). Reprinted in New World Immigrants, Vol. I, pp. 187-189:

"In 1752 Martin Grun, Heinrich Schenkel, and Christian Muller went to 'Pennsylvanien.'  They had to pay all the aforementioned duties, except Martin Grun who, because of his having no property, was manumitted without charge.  But the request for emigration met with great difficulties in the case of the three stepdaughters of Martin Grun--Anna Barbara, Marie Elisabetha, and Maria Catharina Frank--who were such good workers, at the best age for working, and so plainly valued by the Electoral Government that they received manumission reluctantly and only after long struggles.”

GERMAN RECORDS:

Alfred Hans Kuby identified Joseph Kallenberger (or Callenberger) as aged 36 years when he was a passenger on the 1752 Snow Ketty. Mr. Kuby gives Kallenberger’s origins as Edenkoben. I did not locate the surname in online Edenkoben Reformed and Lutheran record abstracts; however, Kallenberger may have appeared in the Catholic KB—or, perhaps, Mr. Kuby found evidence of Kallenberger in other records. Jacob SchusterPhilipp Jacob Schuster

Jacob Schuster—per the research of Alfred Hans Kuby—wrote occasional correspondence to relatives in Edenkoben until his death in 1777. A Philipp Jacob Schuster, nephew of Jacob Schuster, arrived in the Colonies at an unknown date. The last will & testament of Jacob Schuster suggests that other relations may have arrived as well. Further research into this Schuster family is recommended.

Catharina Andre

In her emigration fil dated 1763, Catharina Andre is identified as a Menonist. At this time, it is unclear whether her birth surname was Andre or whether her married name was Andre. It is also uncertain when she left Edenkoben. Her 1763 emigration file suggests that she already resided in the Colonies and had representatives working on her behalf. Perhaps it should be noted that George Kehrt of Edenkoben married an Anna Elisabetha Andre in 1741.

Johann Adam Hartmann

This fascinating figure in American history settled in New York, an area outside my research zone. His legendary adventures on the American frontier and in the Revolutionary War largely inspired James Fenimore Cooper’s character Leatherstocking.

Alfred Hans Kuby, the German researcher of Eighteen Century Edenkoben emigrants, published a short article on Johann Adam Hartmann:

Kuby, Alfred H. “Johann Adam Hartmann.” Pfälzer in Amerika/Palatines in America. Paul Scherer, Ed. Kaiserslautern: Institut für pfälzische Geschichte und Volkskunde, 1995.

(Sidenote: My thanks to the generous Joachim Seidel who sent me the aforementioned book in which Mr. Kuby’s article appears.)

GERMAN RECORDS:

Anna Barbara (Kuhn) Römich

I found one undocumented Internet claim that this man and his family allegedly left for Pennsylvania in 1741. In that same year, David Delater of Edenkoben departed for America. He arrived on the 1741 St. Andrew—but I find no Valentin Römich on that ship list.

However, an Anna Barbara Römich, born Kuhn, of Philadelphia tried to acquire property in Edenkoben via a representative beginning in 1769. And—in the Edenkoben Reformed records, a Hans Valentin Römich and wife Anna Barbara had six children baptized from 1721 to 1737 before disappearing from church records.

The following information is for consideration only in regards to the spouse and children of the Anna Barbaa Römich found in the Edenkoben emigration records.

GERMAN RECORDS:

Edenkoben Reformed KB:

Hans Veltin Romich had baptized:1. Veltin, baptized 17 Feb 1705

Hans Valentin Roemmich & his wife Anna Barbara had baptized:1. (female child), baptized ---- 17212. Daniel, baptized 27 May 17243. Philipp Peter, baptized 20 Aug 17274. Philipp Lorenz, baptized 25 Sep 1729 (another transcription gives the year as 1730)5. Hans Georg, baptized 5 July 17336. Maria Catharina, baptized 25 Mar 1737

--Note: At the baptism of son Hans Georg, the father identified as Velten Roemich, the younger.

--Note: Valentin Römich & his wife Anna Barbara, nee Kuhn, allegedly emigrated from Edenkoben to America in 1741.

PENNSYLVANIA RECORDS:

Apart from the above emigration records, which identify Anna Barbara’s residence as Philadelphia, I have found no further evidence of her whereabouts.
