2 General instructions 2 Allgemeine Vorschriften Damaged parts must not be mounted

and have to be separated.

The connector and its individual parts must not be exposed to dirt or damaged.

Total sealing inside the cover with foam or similar material is not permitted.

The locking lever or locking slide of the fully assembled connector must be closed during transport.

Beschädigte Teile dürfen nicht montiert werden und sind auszuscheiden.

Verschmutzungen/Beschädigungen der

Steckverbindung oder von deren Einzelteilen sind nicht zulässig.

Ein Ausschäumen bzw. Vergießen des

3 Fitting the Terminals 3 Bestückung der Kontakte

The following instructions apply equally to the 58-way, 96-way, they must be carried out for each module.

Die folgenden Anweisungen gelten sinngemäß für die Module 58-polig und 96-polig, sind also für jedes Modul durchzuführen.

With Matrix 1,2 terminals, only use signal

leads which have been produced in accordance with Bosch processing specification 1 928 A00 47M. With BDK 2,8 terminals, only use power leads which have been produced in accordance with Bosch processing specification 1 928 F00 025.

Insert the prepared leads. Observe the cavity numbering.

Nur Signalleitungen mit Kontakten

Matrix 1,2 verwenden, die gemäß BOSCH-Verarbeitungsvorschrift 1 928 A00 47M hergestellt sind. Nur Leistungsleitungen mit Kontakten BDK 2,8 verwenden, die gemäß BOSCH-Verarbeitungsvorschrift 1 928 F00 025 hergestellt sind.

Vorbereitete Leitungen bestücken. Dabei die Kammernummerierung beachten.

Align the contours of the terminal with the cutouts in the cavity. Bear in mind that the BDK 2,8 terminal may also be fitted turned 180°.

Push the terminal into the cavity until it

snaps into place (see fig.6). The crimp should no longer be visible.

You should feel the terminal click into place (see fig. 7).

Check that each terminal is correctly locked in place by gently pulling the cable (See fig.8)

Not used Matrix 1,2-cavities must not be extra sealed.

Not used BDK 2.8 cavities must be

sealed with dummy plugs. These plugs must be seated 2 ± 1mm deep in the contact cavities.

Nicht belegte Matrix 1,2-Kammern sind

ohne weitere Maßnahmen dicht.

Nicht belegte BDK-Kammern sind mit Blindstopfen zu verschließen. Die Blindstopfen müssen 2 ± 1mm tief in den Kontaktkammern versenkt sein.

4 Assembling of the secondary locking

4 Montage der Sekundärverriegelung

The secondary locking of the Matrix 1,2 terminals and BDK 2,8 terminals is delivered as a separate part. It is to insert in the contact housing and to push into its final position after the Matrix 1,2 terminals and BDK 2,8 terminals have been fitted. In addition to subject the terminals to a pulling test, the assembly of the secondary locking element is also a test whether the fitting is correct. If a high resistance is felt as the secondary locking is pushed into place, the terminal fitting must be checked.

Die Sekundärverriegelung für die Matrix 1,2-Kontakte und BDK 2,8-Kontakte wird als separates Teil geliefert. Sie ist nach dem Bestücken der Matrix 1,2-Kontakte und BDK 2,8-Kontakte in den Kontaktträger einzuführen und in Endlage zu schieben. Neben dem Ausziehtest der Kontakte ist die Montage der Sekundärverriegelungen eine Prüfung der korrekten Bestückung. Wird beim Verschieben der Sekundärverriegelungen ein erhöhter Widerstand spürbar, so muss die Kontaktbestückung überprüft werden.

5 Disassembling of the Secondary locking

The following instructions apply equally to the 58-way and 96-way, and to the secondary locking for the Matrix 1,2 and BDK 2,8 terminals. Insert a screwdriver in the recesses of the violet-colored locking elements which are visible from below, and lever the combs out against the direction of assembly.

Die folgenden Anweisungen gelten sinngemäß für die Module 58-polig und 96-polig sowie für die Sekundärverriegelungen der BDK 2,8 und Matrix 1,2. Mit einem Schlitzschraubendreher in die von unten sichtbaren Aussparungen der lilafarbenen Sekundärverriegelungen eingreifen und diese entgegen der Montagerichtung zurückschieben.

Replacement of the sealing plate is not permitted. The entire contact carrier has to be replaced.

7 Disassembling of the terminals 7 Demontage der Kontakte The following instructions apply equally to the 58-way and 96-way module.

For BDK 2,8 terminals, use extracting tool 1 928 498 167. For Matrix 1,2 terminals, use extracting tool 1 928 498 218.

Die folgenden Anweisungen gelten sinngemäß für die Module 58-polig und 96-polig.

Für die BDK 2,8-Kontakte ist das Demontagewerkzeug 1 928 498 167 zu verwenden. Für die Matrix 1,2-Kontakte ist das Demontagewerkzeug 1 928 498 218 zu verwenden.

For further information of using the extraction tools for BDK 2,8 terminals see leaflets Y 928 F00 071, delivered with the extraction tools.

Remove the secondary locking (see chapter 5).

Press the terminal forwards slightly by

pushing the cable.

Insert the extracting tool forwards into the extraction holes as far as the stop.

Pull out the terminals at the cable.

Note: Before reinstalling a terminal, check it for damages (for example, bent primary locking spring, damaged contours) and replace if necessary. BDK 2,8 terminals may only be fit 10 times in and 10 times out in the same cavity. Matrix 1,2 terminals may only be fit 3 times in and 2 times out in the same cavity.

8 Fastening cables to the connector; strain relief

The following instructions apply equally to the 58-way and 96-way modules.

To avoid damage, the cables has to be taped in the area below the intended position of the cabel tie.

Secure the lead bundle to the holder at the contact housing using cable ties. Make sure to route the leads so that the length between the contact cavity and the strain relief is as long and as flexible as possible. Make sure the leads are guided in a maximum loop to prevent bending of terminals in the cavity.

The lock of the cable tie has to be

placed on the side of the wiring harness as shown in fig. 21. The lock may not be placed on the upper side of the wiring harness.

Fastening force 95 N < F < 125 N

Die folgenden Anweisungen gelten sinngemäß für die Module 58-polig. und 96-polig.

Zur Vermeidung von Beschädigungen sollten die Leitungen unterhalb des Spannbandes bandagiert werden.

Leitungsbündel mittels Spannband an der Aufnahme am Kabelbaumstecker befestigen. Dabei die Leitungen zwischen Kontaktkammer und Kabelzugentlastung möglichst lang und beweglich verlegen. Es ist sicherzustellen, dass die Leitungen in einem größtmöglichen Radius verlegt sind, um das Verbiegen der Kontakte in der Kammer zu vermeiden.

Das Schloss des Spannbands muss seitlich neben dem Kabelbaum montiert werden, Das Schloss darf nicht oberhalb des Kabelbaums montiert werden (siehe Abb. 21).

Befestigungskraft: 95 N <F< 125 N

9 Mounting the cover on the equipped contact housing

If the contact housing has been properly equipped and the secondary locking mechanism correctly closed, the cover can be mounted on the contact housing. The Covers can only mounted in the direction indicated on the offer drawing. They cannot be mounted twisted by 180°.

Nach ordnungsgemäßem Bestücken des Kontaktträgers und korrektem Schließen der Sekundärverriegelung kann der Deckel auf den Kontaktträger montiert werden. Die Deckel können jeweils nur wie in der Angebotszeichnung dargestellten Richtung montiert werden. Eine um 180° gedrehte Montage ist nicht möglich.

Check whether the locking lever and locking slide are closed. If not, close it completely.

Position the cover next to the guide elements on the contact housing, so that the lever and slide point in the same direction. Snap the cover into place on the contact housing by swiveling. At the same time, ensure that the teeth of the lever are correctly inserted in the cutout in the contact housing. You should feel the cover click into place on the contact housing. The cables must lie under the cover cleanly and completely and must not be squeezed.

Den Deckel an der dafür vorgesehenen Führung des Kontaktträgers ansetzen, so dass Hebel und Schieber in die selbe Richtung zeigen. Durch Einschwenken den Deckel mit dem Kontaktträger verrasten. Dabei darauf achten, dass die Hebelverzahnung korrekt in die Aussparung im Kontaktträger eingeführt wird. Auf das spürbare Einrasten des Deckels auf dem Kontaktträger ist zu achten. Die Kabel müssen vollständig und sauber unter dem Deckel liegen und dürfen nicht gequetscht werden.

With a small screwdriver or similar,

release both catches of the cover, lifting the cover slightly at the same time.

Note: If you meet high resistance when removing the cover, check once again that the latches are released and repeat the releasing process if necessary. When the cover has been removed from the contact housing, disassembly of the connector is complete. The lever is not intended to be removed from the contact housing.

Hinweise: Bei hohem Widerstand des Deckels ist das Lösen der Verrastung nochmals zu überprüfen und gegebenenfalls zu wiederholen. Nach dem Entfernen des Deckels vom Kontaktträger ist die Demontage des Kabelbaumsteckers abgeschlossen. Eine Trennung des Hebels vom Deckel ist nicht vorgesehen.

The locking lever and locking slide must be opened completely.

Position the connector parallel to the pinheader, and push in as far as the stop.

Close the locking lever (D) while pressing the connector against the terminal strip (E). You should feel the locking slide snap into place. The locking lever must be orientated in line with the top of the cover at both sides.

Kabelbaumstecker parallel zur Messerleiste ansetzen und bis zum Anschlag einstecken.

Verriegelungshebel (D) schließen, dabei den Kabelbaumstecker gegen die Messerleiste drücken (E). Der Verriegelungsschieber rastet spürbar ein. Der Verriegelungs-hebel muss beidseitig an der Oberseite des Deckels anliegen.

Open the locking lever/ locking slide as far as the stop (F). The locking lever/ locking slide snaps perceptible into place.

Remove the connector from the pinheader (G).

13 Fastening the wiring harness, strain relief

13 Befestigung des Kabelbaums, Zugentlastung

Fasten the wiring harness of each connector at a maximum distance of 100 mm from the connector and at the same vibration level as the control unit. To do so, make use of a rubber-sheathed metal clip or a sufficiently solid cable tie. The corrugated pipe must be of sufficient diameter at the fastening point, otherwise it cannot be securely fastened. If the wiring harness is of insufficient diameter, enlarge it as necessary using banding tape.

Der Kabelbaum jedes einzelnen Kabelbaumsteckers ist in maximal 100 mm Entfernung vom Kabelbaumstecker auf dem selben Schwingungsniveau wie das Steuergerät zu fixieren. Hierzu sind eine gummiummantelte Metallschelle oder ein ausreichend massiver Kabelbinder zu verwenden. Das Rillrohr muss im Befestigungsbereich genügend ausgefüllt sein, so dass die Befestigung wirksam ist. Bei zu kleinem Kabelstrangdurchmesser ist dieser mittels Bandagierband auf das erforderliche Maß zu vergrößern.
