Waste-to-Energy Plant AVA Augsburg, Germany

Das Abfallheizkraftwerk Augsburg ist Teil eines inte-

grierten Abfallwirtschaftskonzepts. Drei Verbren-

nungslinien mit einer Durchsatzleistung von je 12 t/h

können insgesamt ca. 225'000 t Abfall pro Jahr be-

handeln. Die Verbrennungslinien sind mit MARTIN

Horizontal-Rosten ausgestattet. Diese bestehen aus 2jeweils 1 Bahn mit einer Rostfläche von je 32,2 m .

Die bei der Verbrennung frei werdende Energie wird

zur Erzeugung von Strom genutzt oder in ein Fern-

wärmenetz eingespeist. Die Abgasreinigung besteht

aus mehreren Stufen. Dies zielt auf eine getrennte

Abscheidung der verschiedenen Schadstoffe und

eine mögliche Wiederverwendung dieser Reststoffe

ab.

In das Abfallheizkraftwerk sind zwei Öfen zur ther-

mischen Behandlung von Krankenhausabfällen mit

je 750 t/a Durchsatz integriert. Die Abgase aus die-

sen Öfen werden in eine der drei Verbrennungslinien

eingeleitet.

The Augsburg Waste-to-Energy plant is part of an

integrated waste management concept. Three com-

bustion lines, each with a throughput of 12 t/h, can

treat approx. 225,000 t waste per year. These com-

bustion lines are equipped with MARTIN horizontal

grates, each consisting of 1 run and having a grate 2surface of 32.2 m . The energy released during com-

bustion is used to generate electricity or is fed into the

district heating network. The flue gas cleaning sys-

tem consists of several stages. This system aims at

removing the various pollutants in separate stages

and potentially reusing the residues obtained.

The plant has two furnaces for thermal treatment of

hospital waste, each having a throughput of 750 t/a.

The flue gases produced by these furnaces are con-

veyed to one of the three combustion lines.
