Die hohe Zahl an verfügbarenMedikamenten und die vielen Thera-piemöglichkeiten erfordern umfas-sende Information und Beratungüber Auswahl und Anwendung vonArzneimitteln. Sowohl für die Selbst-medikation als auch für ärztlich ver-ordnete Medikamente gilt: Die Artund Weise, wie man zu einemMedikament kommt, ist für den Be-handlungserfolg und die Behandlungs-sicherheit entscheidend.

Die Einnahme von falschen Medi-kamenten und die falsche Einnahmevon Medikamenten kann zur Ver-zögerung der Heilung oder sogar zuneuen Krankheitsbildern führen.

Nach einer Studie von Michael W.Johnson*) macht etwa ein Drittel derPatienten bei der Einnahme der ihnenverordneten Medikamente schwereFehler, die nur durch eine adäquatePatienteninformation durch denApotheker vermieden werden kön-nen.

The high amount of medicinal pro-ducts available and the multitude ofpossible therapies create the need forcomprehensive information and ad-vice on choice and application ofmedicines. The way in which a patientobtains a certain medicine - in thefields of self medication and pre-scribed medicines - is crucial for boththe success and the security of histreatment.

Taking wrong medicines or takingmedicines wrongly can delay recoveryor even cause new symptoms.

Der Arzneimittel-SicherheitsgurtMedicine-Safety-Belt

Medikamente haben Wirkungenund Nebenwirkungen und lösen inmanchen Fällen bei der Einnahmemehrerer Medikamente Wechsel-wirkungen aus. Viele dieser Neben-und Wechselwirkungen können durchgezielte Information vermieden wer-den. Deshalb haben die Österrei-chische Apothekerkammer und diePharmazeutischen Gehaltskasse ge-meinsam mit dem Hauptverband derösterreichischen Sozialversicherungs-träger ein vernetztes System zurÜberprüfung von Neben- undWechselwirkungen entwickelt - denArzneimittelsicherheitsgurt.

As medicines have effects and side-effects they sometimes may cause in-teractions, especially by the applica-tion of several medicines. Specific in-formation can avoid many of theseside-effects and interactions. Thus theAustrian Chamber of Pharmacists, thePharmaceutical Salary Fund and theCentral Association of Austrian SocialInsurance Institutions jointly checkside effects and interactions digitallywith the Medicine-Safety-Belt.

Das Projekt "Arzneimittelsicher-heitsgurt" läuft derzeit im Testbetriebin Salzburg. Neben den 71 Apothekenin Salzburg bieten derzeit im Rahmeneines Pilotprojektes auch 3 Apo-theken in Wien untereinander ver-netzt ihren Patienten mehr Sicherheitbei der Einnahme von Medikamenten.Jeder Kunde kann auf Wunsch alleMedikamente, die er privat gekauftoder per Rezept verordnet bekom-men hat, in der Apotheke auf Neben-und Wechselwirkungen überprüfenlassen. Mittels der e-Card wird fürPatienten, die sich auf eigenenWunsch in einer der teilnehmendenApotheken zum Service "Arznei-mittel-Sicherheitsgurt" anmelden, eineMedikationsdatenbank angelegt. Zieldes Projektes ist es, unerwünschteNeben- und Wechselwirkungen zuverhindern und allfällige Unvereinbar-keiten und Probleme im Gepräch zwi-schen Apothekerin bzw. Apothekerund Patientin bzw. Patient zu bespre-chen und zu lösen. Damit wird einkosteneffektiver Einsatz derArzneimittel gewährleistet.

Die österreichweite Umsetzungdes Projektes "Arzneimittel-Sicher-heitsgurt" wurde auch im neuenRegierungsprogramm 2008 bis 2013festgehalten.

Started in February 2007 71 phar-macies in Salzburg and now 3 pharma-cies in Vienna offered the Medicine-Safety-Belt, which guaranteed en-hanced medicine safety: Patients arenow able by request to check theirprivately purchased as well as theirprescribed medicines electronicallyfor side effects and interactions.Thanks to the e-card a personal med-ication database has been created forpatients joining the Medicine-Safety-Belt-Service. Hence to the Medicine-Safety-Belt interactions and adversereactions can be avoided. As such theconsumers are offered individual ad-vice which (sometimes) serves thecause better than a pill. Consequentlymore cost-effective use of medicinalproducts is ensured.

The expansion of the Medicine-Safety-Belt across the country is al-ready determined in the new Austriangovernment program for the years2008 - 2013.

Substitutionsbehandlung in der ApothekeSubstitution program in pharmacies

Die österreichischen Apothekensind seit vielen Jahren sehr erfolgreichin die Substitutionsbehandlung vonDrogenabhängigen eingebunden. Esgibt damit ein österreichweites flä-chendeckendes Netz und die Sucht-mittelabhängigen erhalten ihre Ersatz-drogen gemäß den gesetzlichen Be-stimmungen. Die Apotheken habentrotz des rasanten Anstieges derPatienten in den letzten 10 Jahren unddem sehr aufwendigen Prozedere(Abgabe nur in Tagesdosen, Doku-mentation, Verrechungsaufwand etc.)diese Aufgabe zur Zufriedenheit allererledigt.

For many years Austrian pharma-cies have been successfully involved inaddictive drugs substitution programs.All over the country pharmacies dis-tribute drugs substitutions to addictedpersons according to the legal status.Despite of the rapid increase of thenumber of patients over the past 10years and despite of the complex dis-pensing procedure (dispensing only ina daily dose, documentation, adminis-trative expenses etc.) pharmacieshave successfully managed their tasks.
