Official Formation of IEEE UTeM Student Branch

Participation in Blood Donation Carnival

Many of our members took part

in a Blood Donation Carnival in

which is jointly co-organized by

UTeM, Infineon and Malacca

Blood Bank held on 7th of

December 2016. Despite their

busy schedules, our members

managed to carry out their

responsibility to contribute back

to the society through this event.

A token of appreciation was given

The formation of IEEE

UTeM Student Branch was

pre-conceived as a result

from an insightful IEEE

membership workshop held

in Canselori Auditorium,

UTeMUTeM back in March 2016. The notion for establishment

was push forward and received approval from R10 SAC

by June 2016. However, it was until early October 2016,

our team has finally established officially as a student club

in UTeM. Currently, our formation of IEEE UTeM

Student Branch is established under the roof of Electrical

Engineering Faculty (FKE), UTeM with the endorsement

from Dr. Ir. Nazri Othman as the Dean of FKE and

support from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chong Shin Horng as IEEE

UTeM Student Branch Counselor.

Our team has been very fortunate to be offered a chance

to establish our presence by having a booth at the 2016

IEEE 6th International Conference on Power and Energy

(PECON 2016) held at Hatten Hotel, Malacca from 28th

to 29th of November 2016 and Distinguished Lecture

Program on 30th of November 2016 held at Auditorium

Canselori, UTeM. With the golden opportunity, we were

able to provide a platform for UTeM community to get to

know more about IEEE as a professional body. Also, our

teams also have obtained many returns from the

informative keynote and DLP speeches given by Prof. Dr.

-Ing. Ralph Kennel and Prof. Dr. -Ing. Hugh Rudnick. As

Prof. Dr. -Ing Hugh Rudnick was previously a student

branch counselor, we manage to close up a short and

casual session of information sharing in which Prof. Dr. -

Ing Hugh Rudnick offered us some on his humble tips for

student branch for growth and future development.

would be utilized for our upcoming events and

workshops. Lastly, the blood donation carnival ends on

a high note by registering the highest record in Malacca

in which 755 bags of blood were collected. We look

forward for more opportunities for us to exercise our

social responsibility.
