Mass Intentions for the Week WEEKLY PARISH CALENDAR


The Gospel today talks about the Transfigura-tion of Jesus. This image of Jesus reveals that he is truly divine . This event was a sort of an intermission on the road to Jerusalem. Jesus had his eyes focused on the holy city, fully aware that his forthcoming passion and death will take place there. He made this openly known to his disciples, and they were confused and sad. So Jesus brought the three leading disciples; Peter, James and John to the moun-tain. There, for a very brief moment, they expe-rienced the glory of Jesus and the joy of heav-en, and this was enough to give them encour-agement and strength to face whatever was go-ing to happen. The experience on the mountain was profoundly life-changing that the disciples were not willing to let go. So Peter said to Je-sus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us erect three booths here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” It was a very quick experience of heaven, and they forgot they were still on earth. Something like this happens to us in our life. We have our own Tabor experi-ence; our moments of joys and triumphs: wed-ding, birth of a child, passing the Board Exam, first job, successful business, buying your own house or new car, and many other such events. Like the disciples, we don’t want these events to end. But that is the sobering reality of our life in this world; nothing is permanent, and every-thing passes in a moment . But these brief mo-ments of “heaven” or “Tabor experience” are enough to sustain us when we also encounter our moments of “Calvary” in life. Through it all, Jesus is always with us. There is nothing to be worried about. And that is what truly matters in life: to be with Jesus and live with him. Whether we are in our moments of joy and success, or in a hospital bed suffering indescribable pain, we will still find immense joy if we are with Jesus. To be with God is what heaven is all about.

YOUTH RETREAT Please Pray for them!

We are pleased to announce that 33 members of our par-ishes of St Dominic’s and St Athanasius, including youth from our Catholic Academy are on retreat this weekend at Lake Champion, joining over 200 others from throughout the diocese. We ask that you pray for them by name and if you know them personally to ask them about their retreat experience when they get home later in the day on March 8. If you are interested in a great spiritual and social experience like this there will be an opportunity in the summer for youth who are finishing Middle School Grades (6th, 7th,8th grades) to attend a 5 day program in early August, contact Kenny for more information. Church joins with the Diocese of Brooklyn to conduct the Annual Catholic Appeal, which supports Catholic programs throughout Brooklyn and Queens and effects the lives of countless individuals and families living in our neighborhoods. obligatory days of universal fasting and abstinence; therefore all Catholics between the ages of 18 and 60 are bound to observe the fast;

which means limiting oneself to a single full meal, and avoiding food between meals.

However, two very light meals are permitted.

A : All Catholics who have reached their 14th year of age are bound to abstain totally from meat

on All Fridays of Lent.

he or she must receive Communion at least once a year, during the Easter Season. The Easter

St. Dominic has an Alzheimer’s Support Group as well as an Alzheimer’s Education Program which

meets on a monthly basis in the classrooms.

The Alzheimer’s Support Group will take place on

Lì fu trasfigura-to in sua presenza: il suo viso divenne lumino-so come il sole e le sue vesti diventarono bianche come la neve. Improvvisamente Mosè ed Elia apparvero davanti a loro, conversando con Gesù. Quindi Pietro disse a Gesù: “Signore, quanto sarebbe bello stare qui! Se vuoi, costruiremo tre capanne qui, una per te, una per Mosè e una per Elia ”. Quando stavo ancora parlando, una nuvola luminosa li copri-va e da essa proveniva una voce che diceva: “Questo è il mio amatissimo Figlio, nel quale ho i miei complimenti; ascoltalo. " All'udire ciò, i discepoli caddero a terra a terra, pieni di grande paura. Gesù si avvicinò a loro, li toccò e disse: "Alzati e non temere". Quindi alzando gli occhi, non videro più nessuno tranne Gesù. II DOMINGO DE CUARESMA Mt 17, 1 - 9

En aquel tiempo, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Santiago y a Juan, el hermano de éste, y los hizo subir a solas con él a un monte elevado. Ahí se transfiguró en su presencia: su rostro se puso resplandeciente como el sol y sus vestiduras se volvieron blancas como la nieve. De pronto aparecieron ante ellos Moisés y Elías, conversando con Jesús. Entonces Pedro le dijo a Jesús: “Señor, ¡qué bueno sería quedarnos aquí! Si quieres, haremos aquí tres chozas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías”. Cuando aún estaba hablando, una nube luminosa los cubrió y de ella salió una voz que decía: “Este es mi Hijo muy amado, en quien tengo puestas mis complacencias; escúchenlo”. Al oír esto, los discípulos cayeron rostro en tier-ra, llenos de un gran temor. Jesús se acercó a ellos, los tocó y les dijo: “Levántense y no teman”. Alzando entonces los ojos, ya no vieron a nadie más que a Jesús. Mientras bajaban del monte, Jesús les ordenó: “No le cuenten a nadie lo que han visto, hasta que el Hijo del hombre haya resucitado de entre los Muertos”.

2020 -2021 Ayuda Financiera Disponible

La ayuda financiera está disponible para estudiantes elegibles en los grados K a 8, que asisten a la escuela o academia católica de Brooklyn o Queens. Las familias deben

cumplir con los requisitos de elegibilidad financiera y estar registrados/inscritos para 2020/21 para ser considerados. No se dará consideración a una familia que no haya

completado el proceso de inscripción. Sólo se considerarán las solicitudes de ayuda financiera completadas.
