Pain is no spring fever – but flow is!

Im Frühjahr tickt sie zuverlässig wie eine Rolex. Die innere Uhr, die einem als Mountainbiker signalisiert: Es geht wieder los! Die Saison steht in den Startlöchern, das frisch aufgebaute Bike wartet im Keller auf den ersten Trail-Kontakt. Euphorie bestimmt das Handeln. Wer sich zurückerinnern kann, der erkennt vielleicht die Gefühlsparallele zwischen der ersten Frühjahrs-Session oder -Tour und der allerersten Fahrt ohne Stützräder: Man meint, danach greifen zu können, nach der Freiheit auf zwei Rädern. Und gleichzeitig will man sofort mehr, will weitere neue Dinge erkunden, mehr ausprobieren und neue Wege für sich erschließen. Vermutlich sind Reisen mit oder auf dem Rad deshalb so verdammt spannend – und gefühlt noch ein Stückchen besser als ohne.

So jedenfalls ging es uns wieder einmal bei unserem jüngsten Trip nach Schottland: Unser Besuch bei der Enduro World Series und beim Downhill-Weltcup in Fort William offenbarte uns eine Seite des Mountainbike-Sports, die Radfahren auf dem allerhöchsten Niveau repräsentiert. Als professioneller Wettkampfsport im Rennformat – Enduro – das derzeit in aller Munde ist. Darüber lässt sich durchaus Schmunzeln, denn streng genommen ist Enduro genau das, was Mountainbiken schon immer mit ausmacht: Wer ist der Schnellste auf dem Trail?

In der Gegenwart spitzt sich diese Frage durch immer ausgereiftere Bikes immer weiter zu: Die Geschwindigkeiten werden höher und wenn man es ehrlich betrachtet, wird bei Enduro-Rennen inzwischen fast so schnell wie beim Downhill gefahren. Der einzige Unterschied: Die Räder haben weniger Federweg und lassen sich noch bergauf pedalieren. Eine ähnliche Vorstellung markierte den Ursprung der Marke Bliss: Wir stellen Produkte her, die flexibel und leicht sind, sich gut pedalieren lassen – und trotzdem im Rennsport bestehen. Das machen wir nicht, weil Enduro gerade ein Hype ist, sondern aus Überzeugung: Weil wir selbst gerne so variabel und schnell Rad fahren.

Für den, der Rennen bestreitet, geht es natürlich nicht nur um den eigenen Eindruck der Geschwindigkeit. Es geht darum, schneller zu sein als die Konkurrenz. Dabei dürfen Protektoren erst recht nicht stören. Die Erfolge unserer Teamfahrer – darunter Jérôme Clementz und Nico Lau – liefern den Beweis, dass wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind und unser Produkt funktioniert. Dadurch bestärkt haben wir auch den Schritt in den Downhill-Sport getan: Wir verstehen diese Form des Mountainbikens als Formel 1. Und auch als Maßstab für unsere weitere Produktentwicklung. Dass Bliss Protektoren bereits jetzt die speziellen Anforderungen der Downhiller erfüllen, bewies wiederum der DH-Weltcup-Sieg von Manon Carpenter in Leogang. Doch damit nicht genug: Bliss will mit seinen Produkten die sich entwickelnde Sportart sicherer, noch angenehmer und die, für die das wichtig ist, schneller machen.

Dadurch spielt es für uns auch keine Rolle, ob man nun 26er, 27,5er oder 29er fährt. Es ist egal, ob man Sonnenbrille oder Goggle, Halbschale oder Fullface trägt. Auch spielt es keine Rolle ob die Zeit im Sattel ein Soulride oder Wettkampf ist. Wir haben uns nur zum Ziel gesetzt, Protektoren herzustellen, die in jeder Situation funktionieren, die nicht einschränken und die effektiv schützen. Denn spätestens am Grill und beim After-Ride-Bier sind alle Mountainbiker gleich!

In spring-time it ticks as certain as a Rolex. The biological clock of a mountain biker remains: Here we go again! The season is first to set off the marks, and the newly built bike is waiting in the cellar for the first contact with the trail. Euphoria surges through the body. Those of us who are able to reminisce about the times, maybe recognize the parallels of feelings between the first ride or tour of the season in spring, and the very first ride without stabilizers. You believe in reaching for the freedom on two wheels. At the same moment, you want more; discover new things, try out new challenges and open up new ways for oneself. Probably, that’s why journeys by bike are so incredibly exciting – and even a bit better than without.

That’s how we felt with our recent trip to Scotland. Our visit to the Enduro World Series and the Downhill World Cup in Fort William confessed to us a new side of mountain bike sport, which represents riding at the highest level. As a professional competitive sport, Enduro is what everybody talks about. Well, we could grin about that, because strictly speaking Enduro is what mountain biking has always been. Who’s the fastest in the trail?

At present times, this question heats up through more and more matured bikes: The speed rises and if you look at it honestly, the rate between an Enduro-race and a downhill-race is nearly the same. The only difference is: The bikes have less deflection and you are able to peddle up the mountain with them. A similar idea assigns the origin of the brand Bliss. We produce products which are flexible and simple to peddle – and still perform in racing. We don’t do this because Enduro is a nine day wonder, but out of conviction: because we love to ride variable and fast ourselves.

It’s for the one, who contests races and it isn’t only about the own impression of the speed. It is about being faster than the oponent. In this case no protection can disturb. The success of our teamriders – like Jérôme Clementz and Nico Lau – proves that we are on the right way and our product works. Thereby we confirm the step into the downhill sport: For us it is the formula one of maintain biking and also as a scale for our development of products. That Bliss protection fulfills the specific needs for downhill riders has been proven in the DH-World Cup Victory of Manon Carpenter in Leogang. But that’s not enough. Bliss with its products wants to make the generating sport safer, more comfortable and faster, for those who need it.

That’s why it doesn’t make any difference for us, if you ride a 26, 650B or 29. It doesn’t matter is you wear sunglasses or goggles, bike helmet or fullface. It also doesn’t matter if your time on your bike is a soul ride or a race. The only aim we have is to develop and produce protection, which works in every situation, which doesn’t limit you in movement and which protects effectively. At the latest, at the BBQ with a beer in your hand all mountain bikers are equal.

Mit diesem erfolg im hinterkopf galt es jedoch abschied zu nehmen . nächster stop : fort William .
