Dear Parents, Carers and Families

Bushfires

Thank you to everyone for your cooperation during our closure due to fire danger last week. The safety of students was the main priority of all agencies involved in the decision making process.

Bushfires will remain a concern over the coming months and further closures could occur in times of high fire danger. Any closures will be communicated via SMS and Facebook. Please ensure we have your correct contact details so that you receive important information.

If you did not receive any SMS notifications from the school last week please contact the school office so this can be fixed up.

In the event that a bushfire becomes a threat while students are at school all students will be moved to our designated school refuge area which is the admin block. If we are instructed by the RFS to seek shelter in our refuge no students will be allowed to leave until it is deemed safe by authorities.

This is a good time for all families to ensure they have their own bushfire survival plan organised so that you know what to do in case of an emergency situation.

Camp

The weather conditions for this week were predicted to be very hot and windy. Great Aussie Bush camp is situated in a very bushy area that could be dangerous if fire broke out in the areas.

Refunds can be arranged for camp fees paid or the amount can be left in credit for future expenses. Please let Mrs Muir in the office know what you would like to do.

Grandparents Day

Unfortunately Grandparents Day had to be cancelled last week. As we are not able to reorganise another date we would like to send a special invite to all grandparents to attend our end of year presentation day on Thursday 12th December.

Swimming

The Intensive Swimming Scheme will go ahead next week starting Monday 25th November. This is a whole school program with all levels of swimming ability catered for. Please ensure notes and payment for pool entry are returned by this Friday.

Lessons will take place every day for two weeks. Students will leave school at 12.00 noon and return by 2.00 pm.

The last day of swimming, Friday 6th December, will be combined with our annual swimming carnival. Parents are welcome to come along to the pool for the swimming carnival. All students who turn 8 in 2020 are eligible to compete in races. Younger students will participate in water fun activities at the pool.

The swimming carnival will commence at 10.00 am.

Christmas Raffle

All students have today received a raffle booklet for our end of year Christmas raffle. We have some amazing prizes donated to our school valued at over $700. As this is P&C’s major fundraiser for the year we ask all families to please try and sell as many tickets as possible.

Did you know that you can now make payments

to Lansdowne Public School online?

It is now possible for parents to make online payments to the school for amounts owing for students,

via a secure payment page hosted by Westpac. Payments can be made using either a Visa or MasterCard

credit or debit card, and can be made via computer, tablet or mobile phone.

The payment page is accessed from the front page of the school’s website by selecting Make a payment.

Items that can be paid include voluntary school contributions, subject contributions, excursions, sales to

students and creative and practical arts activities (these include band, drama and dance). There is also a

category called ‘Other’ to cover items not covered in the previous headings, ‘Other’ can be used to make

a complete payment of a school Statement of Account.

When you access the Make a payment you must enter:

the students name

class

date of birth

These details are entered each time you make a payment as student information is not held within the

payment system.

This is a secure payment system hosted by Westpac to ensure that your credit/debit card details are

captured in a secure manner, these details are not passed back to the school.

You have the ability to check and change any details of the payment before the payment is processed.

Receipts can be emailed and/or printed.

Details of the payments are passed daily to the school where they will be receipted against your child’s

account. As a receipt has been issued from the payment page a further receipt will not be issued by the

school.

For any enquiries regarding the online payment process please contact the School Administration Office.

How?

Log onto https://lansdowne-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/.

Click on “Make a Payment” and follow the prompts to make a payment via Visa or
