Informationen zu Johanniskraut finden sich auch unter den Begriffen St. John's wort und

Hypericum perforatum. Inhaltsstoffe des Johanniskrauts, speziell das Hyperforin, sollen

dabei Cytochrom P450 Enzyme, besonders das CYP3A4 und/oder das P-Glycoproteininduzieren und so auf die Spiegel anderer Medikamente Einfluss nehmen. Dazu Zhlen

das Cyclosporin A, Digoxin, einige Psychopharmaka wie Amitriptylin usw. (Madabushi

R 2006).

Deshalb kann man das Medikament nicht einfach einnehmen, weil man denkt, es ist

pflanzlicher Herkunft und insofern harmlos und unbedenklich.

Die Begriffe pflanzlich und harmlos haben nmlich berhaupt nichts mit einander zu tun.

Viele Pflanzengifte sind im Gegenteil sehr gefhrlich und haben unangenehme bis

tdliche Wirkungen
