As you know, the Penner’ are the proud parents of Matisyahu, a 23 year-old superstar who struggles with autism. Rabbi Penner will be sharing his family’s powerful story with an eye towards educating the community as to how to best integrate special needs individuals and families into the community. The schedule is as follows: Drasha: “Standing in Their Shoes: What Special Needs Individuals and Families Need From You” Shabbat afternoon Oneg: “Disabilities in the Jewish Community: One Family’s Journey” *Please note this community-wide program will start 90 minutes before Mincha and end 20 minutes prior to Mincha Seudah Shelishit: “When Strength becomes Weakness: Of Shimshon and other Special Children” This special Shabbat is being sponsored by Ethel and Stan Scher in memory of Ethel ‘s parents, Dr. Gustave and Mrs. Sylvia Kaplan, Yedidia ben Aryeh Leib HaCohen, and Shifra Mirel bat Rav Mordechai Todros.
